Biography

2018-19: Went 13-11 on the season with eight decisions, four major decisions and one fall. In the Navy Open, defeated Michael McGee (Old Dominion) on his way to a second-place finish.    

2017-18: Redshirted.

2016-17: Finished the 2016-17 season with a 29-8 overall record and a dual meet record of 9-3. He placed first at the Bearcat Open, second at the Navy Classic, fifth at the Midlands Invitational and was the MAC Tournament champion. Laney qualified for the 2017 NCAA tournament, finishing 2-2 in the round of 16. He was named Male Student-Athlete of the Year.

2015-16: Posted a 23-13 record during his freshman campaign… Placed second at the Michigan State Open… Finished third at the Navy classic… Finished the with a MAC regular season record of 5-3… Competed at the MAC Championships posting a 2-2 record which included a fall at 1:26 over Kyle Akins from Buffalo to earn a fifth-place finish… Earned a berth at the NCAA Championships.

High School: 4-time League Champion…. awarded Outstanding Wrestler in numerous tournaments he competed in.

Personal: Enjoys playing basketball in his free time. Favorite teams included the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cleveland Browns. Expected to graduate with a degree in Business in 2019.
