Prior to Ohio: Played wide receiver, safety and punter at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School and logged 60 total tackles, five pass breakups and a quarterback sack as a safety. He also had 768 yards on 37 catches and 54 rushing yards. He holds the school record in catches (174), receiving yards (2,885) and touchdowns (38). He also recorded the second-highest single game tackle total with 20. He was named Esmark All-American, Honorable Mention All-State, Cleveland All-Star Team, First Team All-District twice, First Team All-Conference three times, was named team MVP twice and served as team captain for two years. He led his team to a 10-2 finish as a sophomore and a trip to the regional quarterfinals and a conference championship, 8-3 his junior year and 7-3 as a senior. Also lettered two years in basketball.
