Biography

2023: Made 22 appearances and 13 starts… Finished season with a .263 batting average, scoring ten runs, registering 15 hits, one double, two home runs, and six RBIs.  

2022: Made 10 appearances with four starts… Had a .227 batting average… Registered five hits with one RBI.

2021: Played in 26 games with 23 starts for the Bobcats… Recorded 21 hits with one home run and 10 RBI… Posted a season-high three hits against Ball State (May 21)… Academic All-MAC.

2020: Appeared in 10 games for Ohio ... Had one double and two RBI ... Had a slash line of .190/.277/.310 ... Had a double, one RBI and a run scored at North Alabama (Feb. 15) ... Drove in a run at North Alabama (Feb. 16).

2019: Academic All-MAC ... Appeared in 51 games while hitting .239 with a .305 on-base percentage and a .315 slugging percentage in his first year of action for the Bobcats … Tied for fifth on the team with four stolen bases … Recorded 9 extra-base hits and drove in 9 RBI while scoring 24 runs … Recorded his first career hit in his first career start going 2-4 at Wofford (Feb. 15) ... Had a career-high three hits against Bowling Green (March 30), going 3-for-4 with two RBI, three runs and a home run ... Hit a home run and went 2-for-4 at Western Michigan (May 18). 

2018: Redshirted.

Prior to Ohio: Served as team captain as a senior in 2017 at Foothill High School under head coach Vince Brown, helping to lead the Knights to a California Interscholastic Federation semifinals appearance ... Hit .417 with a .500 slugging percentage as a junior in 2016 after batting .302 with a .430 slugging percentage and 12 stolen bases as a sophomore in '15, helping Foothill earn Century League Conference titles both years ... Also played football at Foothill ... Played for OC Premier for four years and Tustin Knights for two years at the club level under head coaches Jason Corapci and Jonathan Erickson ... In Connie Mack Wood Bat League in 2017, hit .317 with a .391 on-base percentage and eight stolen bases.

Uncle, Dave Staton, played baseball at Orange Coast College (1985-87) before transferring to Cal State Fullerton (1987-88), then played in Major League Baseball for the San Diego Padres (1989-95), Los Angeles Dodgers (1995), Milwaukee Brewers (1995) and Cincinnati Reds (1996) ... High Honor Roll student at Foothill ... Served on both his junior and senior class councils in high school ... Served as the Foothill Television Sports Anchor from 2016-17 ... Also involved in Assistance League of Tustin, Trinity United Presbyterian Church-Door Step Ministries, Vacation Bible School, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Max Love Club and Boys Community Service League.
