Nic Ericsson joined the Ohio baseball staff as an assistant coach in July 2025.
Ericsson arrived to Ohio after spending one year as an assistant coach at Liberty. At Liberty, Ericsson specifically served as the catching and bullpen coach. His responsibilities included planning the day-to-day schedule for the catchers, specifically the physical training of his players. Ericsson served a vital role in the physical and mental preparation of pitchers while coaching in and out of the bullpen.

In June 2024, Ericsson began holding coaching lessons for catchers, hitters and pitchers. In these lessons, he provides aspiring baseball players with coaching on technique, mental game and toughness.

Ericsson played collegiately at VCU from 2020-24, appearing in 159 games and making 124 starts. During his career at VCU, he tallied 93 runs, 64 RBI’s and 89 hits including 13 home runs, 23 doubles and one triple. While serving as a catcher for the Rams, Ericsson totaled 996 putouts and 97 assists. Ericsson concluded his career at a three-time A10 Baseball Champion, was named to the Greenville Regional All-Tournament Team and earned a spot on the Buster Posey Award Watch List.

Ericsson earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science and business administration from VCU in 2024. He also earned a master’s certificate in management and leadership from Liberty in 2025.
