AKRON, Ohio – The Ohio soccer team (3-6-0, 0-3 MAC) returned to action on Sunday afternoon for another Mid-American Conferecne matchup, falling to Akron (5-4-1, 1-1-1 MAC), 1-0 on the road.

Overall, Ohio recorded eight shots with two on goal, while Akron scored a goal after recording five shots and four on goal. Ohio had six corners while Akron had three.

Senior Anna Burchett (Prestonburg, Ky.) recorded two shots with one on goal, while junior Iro Fakinou (Athens, Greece) recorded two attempts. Senior Jaimason Brooker (Powell, Ohio) also recorded an attempt on goal.

In goal, freshman Ayla Rammel (Englewood, Ohio) got the start. She conceded one goal and made three saves across the full 90 minutes.

The game was fiercely contested, with Ohio taking many shots but failing to find a clinical edge. Akron weathered the Bobcat storm and held their own, creating a few chances. However, both teams remained scoreless as the first half finished.

At the break, Ohio recorded four shots and had three corners compared to Akron's two shots and one corner.

Akron struck in the 53rd minute after winning a free kick and taking a 1-0 lead less then 10 minutes into the half. The Ohio offense was unable to break through the Zips' defense over the next 20 minutes. Fakinou was able to get a shot off in the 72^nd minutes, however, the attempt missed just right. Moments later, Burchett had Ohio's best chance at a goal, forcing an Akron save in the 74^th minute, keeping the game at 1-0. The Bobcats were able to get a shot off in the final seconds of the match, however the attempt went right of the goal, securing the 1-0 win for Akron.
