MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Ohio volleyball team (9-4, 2-0 MAC) swept Central Michigan (0-15, 0-2 MAC) 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-19) on Saturday, Sept. 26.

Ohio finished with a .299 team hitting percentage, 43 kills, eight aces, nine blocks, 39 assists and 37 digs. Central Michigan finished with a .163 team hitting percentage, 32 kills, five aces, seven blocks, 31 assists and 33 digs.

Senior Emily Waddell (Carmel, Ind.) was Ohio's top performer for the second game in a row. Waddell recorded a .421 attack percentage with a team-high 10 kills and two errors on 19 total attacks. The senior also led the team with 13.0 points. Senior Torre Kildow (Bethesda, Ohio) ranked second on the team in kills with nine total. Senior Olivia Gardner (Macomb, Mich.) and freshman Rose Mahin (Franklin, Ind.) combined for 16 kills.

Freshman Rowan Kelly (Akron, Ohio) was the Bobcats' lead setter, tallying a team-high 36 assists.

Senior Gentry Brown (Shadyside, Ohio) and junior Darbi Ricketts (Cincinnati, Ohio) led Ohio at the service line with a team-high three aces each. Brown also recorded a team-high 13 digs. Ricketts and Kelly combined for 12 digs total.

Gardner and Mahin was top performers at the net. The pair led the team in blocks with three a piece.

The Bobcats got off to a strong start. Ohio and Central Michigan were tied at 8-8 before the Bobcats' offense took off. Halfway through, the Bobcats held a 15-11 lead over the Chippewas. Central Michigan cut Ohio's lead to three points later on in the set, trailing the Bobcats 20-17. Ohio responded with a 6-1 scoring run, winning the set 25-19 and taking a 1-0 lead over Central Michigan.

Ohio continued its success into the second set. The Bobcats extended its lead to 2-0 over the Chippewas with a 25-20 win.

At the beginning of the third set, the Bobcats took a quick 7-1 lead over the Chippewas. Central Michigan responded, cutting Ohio's lead to 9-6. More than halfway through the set, the Bobcats maintained an 18-11 over the Chippewas. Central Michigan looked for a comeback opportunity as the Chippewas cut the score to 22-18. With the sweep in sight, the Bobcats did not relent. Ohio went on to win the third set, 25-19, and complete the sweep over Central Michigan.

The Bobcats will be back in action when they host a two-game series against Akron, starting on Friday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. ET in the Convocation Center. Friday's game will be a WHITE OUT with the first 150 fans receiving a white Rufus t-shirt. The game will be available to watch on ESPN+.
