Greenwell & Dellasanta lead Ohio Cross Country to Fourth Place Finishes at Spartan Invite

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Ohio men's and women's cross country teams both placed fourth at the Spartan Invitational on Friday, Sept. 11.

The women took home fourth place (111 pts) out of 24 teams, beating Ohio State and Southern Indiana in the 6k race. The men's squad beat several teams in the 8k including Southern Indiana as they earned a fourth place finish (119 pts) out of 23 teams.

The Spartan Invitational kicked off with the women's 6k race. Senior Ellie Greenwell (Park Hills, Ky.) was Ohio's top female performer for the second week in a row. Greenwell was the first Bobcat to cross the finish line, placing 10^th overall with a personal-best time of 21:22.7. Junior Kaitlyn Stewart was Ohio's second-best performer in the 6k, taking home 20^th place with a time of 21:38.9. Coming in behind Stewart was junior Reece Savage (Johnstown, Ohio), who placed 23^rd overall with a time of 21:39.8.

Sophomore Savana Miller, senior Eliza Streit (Plain City, Ohio) and junior Eva Hensley were also key performers for Ohio. Miller finished in 34^th place (21:55.4), Streit came in 49^th place (22:19.4) and Hensley finished in 63^rd place (22:31.5).

The men's 8k race started after the conclusion of the women's group. Junior Michael Dellasanta (Columbus, Ohio) was the first Bobcat to cross the finish line, taking 14^th place overall with a time of 24:53.6. Coming in next for Ohio was sophomore Tate Ruthers (Thornville, Ohio) in 23^rd place, recording a time of 25:08.5. Junior Elliot Zuckett (Canton, Ohio) took home 25^th place in his first collegiate 8k with a time of 25:14.1.

Senior Sam Beeler (Cincinnati, Ohio), sophomore Luca Cirincione (Georgetown, Ind.) and freshman Alec Adelman (New Philadelphia, Ohio) rounded out Ohio's top six on the men's side. Beeler finished in 38^th place (25:36.7), Cirincione came in 44^th place (25:43.6, PR) and Adelman finished in 62^nd place (26:08.8).

The Bobcats will be back in action at the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational on Friday, Sept. 25.
