Freshman Rowan Kelly Named MAC Volleyball Setter of the Week

CLEVELAND – Ohio volleyball's freshman Rowan Kelly (Akron, Ohio) was named Mid-American Conference Volleyball Setter of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday, Aug. 31.

In her debut with Ohio, Kelly immediately made an impact as Ohio went 3-0 at the Marshall Invitational. Ohio swept all three of their opponents - Bucknell, Niagara and Marshall – winning all nine sets this past weekend. As Ohio's primary setter, Kelly helped Ohio to a combined team hitting percentage of .395 with 110 assists (12.22). Through three games, she recorded a .643 attack percentage with nine kills on 14 total attacks. Kelly also contributed 24 digs (2.67), 13.5 points (1.50) and 5.0 blocks (0.56).

In her first collegiate game, Kelly recorded 38 assists, three kills, two aces, 12 digs and 6.0 points. Later that same day, the freshman helped lead Ohio past Niagara with 30 assists, three kills, seven digs and 4.0 points. Kelly wrapped up the weekend with a season-best 42 assists in addition to five digs, three kills and 3.5 points against Marshall.

Kelly and the Bobcats will be back in action at IU Indy on Thursday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be available to watch on ESPN+
