HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, K.y. – The Ohio women's soccer team (1-1-0, 0-0-0 MAC) fell to Northern Kentucky (3-0-0, 0-0-0 HL), 3-2, Sunday evening (Aug.23) on the road.

Overall, Ohio scored two goals on 14 shots, with seven on goal, and took four corner kicks. Meanwhile, Northern Kentucky scored three goals on 18 shots, with nine on and five corner kicks.

Ohio was led by senior Jaimason Brooker (Madison Heights, Mich.) with one goal and two shots on goal. Freshman Camille Francis (Perrysburg, Ohio) scored her first as a Bobcat, while senior Kate Robinson recorded one assist and two shots. Junior Iro Fakinou (Athens, Greece) added three shots total with one on frame.

In goal, freshman Ayla Rammel (Englewood, Ohio) got the start, allowing three goals and making six saves.

The Bobcats recorded their first offensive attempts early, with Fakinou striking a shot wide after a free kick. Fakinou followed with a shot on goal off a corner kick, forcing a save.
The Norse pressured the Bobcat defense, having three shots and a corner kick, but Rammel kept the ball out of the net to keep Northern Kentucky off the board.

The Norse struck first, scoring their first goal on a penalty kick in the 36^th minute, before extending their lead to 2-0 in the 38^th.

At the half, Ohio had five shots, with two on goal, while taking one corner. Northern Kentucky recorded two goals on nine shots, four on goal, and took one corner.

Ohio opened the second half attacking Northern Kentucky's defense; Brooker fired a shot to the bottom right corner to get the Bobcats on the board, 2-1, in the 45^th minute. However, the Norse were quick to respond, adding to their tally in the 48^th to take a two-goal advantage.

The Bobcat offense continued to put on the pressure. Robinson sent the ball to Francis for her first career goal and cut into the deficit, 3-2, in the 55^th minute. Minutes later, Ohio was looking for the equalizer, putting two shots on frame and getting a corner, but the Northern Kentucky goalkeeper was denying all attempts.

Ohio looked for a late push, recording four shots, one on target, with a corner kick in the 80^th minute, but could not convert, ultimately dropping the match, 3-2.

Up next, the Bobcats return to Athens to host Mercyhurst on Sunday, Aug. 30. Kickoff at Chessa is set for 1 p.m. ET, and Ohio will celebrate seniors Jaimason Brooker, Anna Burchett, Rylee Mensel, Melia Peer and Kate Robinson before kickoff.
