CLEVELAND, Ohio – Two members of the Ohio men's basketball team earned Mid-American Conference Postseason Honors, the league announced this morning (March 11). Senior guard
Jackson Paveletzke was named to the All-MAC Second Team, while redshirt junior forward
Javan Simmons was named All-MAC Honorable Mention.
This is the second time during his time at Ohio that Paveletzke (Kimberly, Wis.) has earned a spot on a MAC Postseason team. This season, Paveletzke led the Bobcats in scoring, averaging 17.5 points a game, while shooting 47.6 percent from the field, 32.6 percent from three and 79.7 percent from the line, while averaging 3.0 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game. Paveletzke also led the Bobcats and the league in minutes per game, averaging 36.6 minutes.
In MAC play, Paveletzke averaged 18.6 points a game, while shooting 46.3 percent from the field, 30.0 percent from three and 79.9 percent from the line. He also averaged 3.5 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 37.7 minutes a game.
This season, Paveletzke recorded 25 double figure scoring games, 11 20-point games and two double doubles. He's led the Bobcats in scoring 17 times, in assists 22 times and was named MAC Player of the Week on Jan. 12. His biggest game of the season came last Friday (March 6) against No. 19 Miami, where he scored a career-high 37 points, for his first carrer 30-point game. He went 12-of-25 from the field, while dishing out a game-high six assists. Paveletzke also hit the game-winning three as time expired on Jan. 3 at Eastern Michigan, helping erase a 20-point deficit and secure the victory for the Bobcats.
This is the third time that Simmons (Columbus, Ohio) has earned MAC Postseason Honors, and the second-straight year he has been named All-MAC Honorable Mention. In his first season with the Bobcats, Simmons was second in scoring with 14.9 points a game, while shooting 53.2 percent from the field and 68.6 percent from the line. He also averaged 5.7 rebounds and 27.0 minutes a game.
In conference play, Simmons averaged 16.2 points and 6.4 rebounds a game. He shot 55.6 percent from the field and 69.2 percent from the line. He also recorded 18 blocks and 14 steals in league play.
This season, Simmons recorded 25 double figure scoring games, three double figure rebounding games, six 20-point games and one 30-point game. He recorded three double doubles and led the team nine times in scoring and seven times in rebounding. Simmons was a beast on March 6 in the regular season finale against No. 19 Miami, scoring a career-high 30 points, going 11-of-14 from the field, 2-of-2 from three and 6-of-6 from the line. He also grabbed a team-leading nine rebounds in the overtime thriller.
Paveletzke, Simmons and the rest the six-seeded Ohio men's basketball team open play at the 2026 Mid-American Conference Tournament, presented by Credit Union 1 on Thursday, March 12 when Ohio takes on No. 3 Kent State. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. ET or 30 minutes following the conclusion of game three and can be seen on ESPN+.
