AKRON, Ohio – The Ohio women's basketball team (15-10, 9-5 MAC) fell 108-105 in double overtime at Akron (7-19, 4-9 MAC) on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
Ohio shot 45.1 percent from the field, 26.2 percent from the arc and 66.7 percent from the line. The Bobcats finished with 52 rebounds, 24 assists, eight steals and three blocks.
Five Bobcats finished with double figure points. Junior
Bailey Tabeling (Seymour, Ind.) led the team in scoring with a season-high 25 points; shooting 9-for-21 from the field, 5-for-12 from the arc and 2-for-2 from the line.
Freshman
ReRe Jennings (Killeen, Texas) scored a career-high 19 points; shooting 9-for-14 from the field. Sophomore
Gigi Bower (Powell, Ohio) tallied 16 points; shooting 6-for-9 from the field and 3-for-6 from the arc. Graduate student
Aliah McWhorter (Cincinnati, Ohio) recorded 14 points and redshirt sophomore
Monica Williams (Indianapolis, Ind.) tallied 10 points.

Elli Garnett (Lakewood, Colo.) led Ohio in rebounding with 10 boards in addition to a team-high three steals. Four different Bobcats finished with a team-high four assists.
Ohio got off to a slow start, going down 13-5 against Akron with 5:28 left in the first quarter. Akron extended its lead to 24-13 with 1:10 to go. At the end of the first, the Bobcats trailed the Zips 26-14.
Ohio answered back in the second quarter, outscoring Akron 18-4. The Bobcats kicked off the quarter with back-to-back layups by Tabeling. A three pointer by McWhorter cut Akron's lead to 26-23 with 4:43 left in the half. Ohio took the lead at the very end of the quarter off a three pointer by Bower. Heading into the locker room, Ohio led Akron 32-20.
Both teams had a high scoring third quarter with Ohio outscoring Akron 35-24. A fastbreak layup by Jennings put Ohio up 42-38 with 6:56 on the clock. The Bobcats extended their lead to 14 points, 60-46, with 2:50 to go off another layup by Jennngs. At the end of the third quarter, Ohio led Akron 67-54.
Akron's offense came out strong in the fourth quarter, outscoring Ohio 32-19. The Zips tied the game at 86-86 with 46 seconds to go in regulation, forcing overtime.
Jennings' layup at the buzzer tied the game at 99-99, forcing a second overtime period. The Bobcats ultimately fell to the Zips, 108-105, in double overtime.
The Bobcats will be back in action when they host Bowling Green on Wednesday, Feb. 25 in the Convocation Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. ET and the game will be available to watch on ESPN+. The first 200 students will receive free Chick-Fil-A.
