Ohio Field Hockey Falls on the Road to No. 12 Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.– The Ohio field hockey team (6-6) returned to action on Sunday (Oct. 11) to take on No. 12 Indiana (9-3), falling 5-0. Â
Overall, Ohio recorded four shots on goal while, taking three penalty corners. Indiana scored five goals on 10 shots on goal while, also taking three penalty corners. Â
Individually, sophomore forward Tiana Nhamoinesu (Thirsk, North Yorkshire) was an engine on offense, recording three shots on goal while junior midfielder Marie De Grande (Groot-Bijgaarden, Belgium) had a shot on goal as well. Â
In goal, junior Molly Schreiner (State College, Pa) made five saves in 60 minutes of action. Â
The Bobcats got things going right away on offense, earning a penalty corner within the first minute of the game, but Nhamoinesu's shot was saved. Indiana came right back down the field and started its offense quickly as well, scoring a goal after less than two minutes of game time. Â
The rest of the first period was a defensive battle after the first goal, with neither team getting a shot on goal for the remainder of the period. Â
Ohio again earned a penalty corner to start the second quarter, but the shot from junior back Deborah James (Hertfordshire, England) was wide. Both teams struggled on offense for the second period until Indiana scored another goal at the end of the period, sending the game into halftime with Ohio trailing 2-0. Â
The Hoosiers earned multiple penalty corners to start the third quarter before scoring their third goal of the game about halfway through the third frame. In the fourth period, Indiana opened with a goal right away in the period, before scoring one more with less than five minutes left in the fourth period.  Â
The Bobcats got a penalty before the final whistle blew, but the shots from Nhamoinesu and De Grande were saved, securing the 5-0 Indiana win. Â
