BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Ohio volleyball team (2-11, 0-1 MAC) fell 3-1 (17-25, 25-22, 15-25, 23-25) in its MAC opener at Bowling Green (6-7, 1-0 MAC) on Thursday, Sept. 25
Ohio finished with 45 kills, 12 aces, three blocks, 44 assists and 49 digs. The Falcons finished with 47 kills, five aces, 13 blocks, 40 assists and 56 digs.
Freshman Mady Long (Vincent, Ohio) led the team's offense with 14 points and 13 kills. Sophomore Bryn Janke (Westfield, Wis.) finished with a team-high 22 assists.
Junior Kendall Hickey (Fishers, Ind.) finished with a team-high 21 digs. Sophomore Sierra Evans (Silver Spring, Md.) led the team at the net with two block assists.
The game started off close, but Bowling Green firmly took an early 1-0 lead with a 25-17 win in the first set.
The Bobcats fought back in the second set, battling several scoring runs by the Falcons. After taking a 21-20 lead, Ohio maintained control long enough to win the set 25-22 and tie the game at 1-1.
The Falcons took back the lead with a 25-15 win in the third set.
The fourth set was intense with the Bobcats trying to stay alive. The teams went back-and-forth for the majority of the set. Ohio managed to score two points at Bowling Green's match point, only trailing 24-23. However, Bowling Green earned the 3-1 victory with a 25-23 win in the final set.
The Bobcats will be back in action at Toledo on Friday, Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. ET. The game will be available to watch on ESPN+.
