DAYTON, Ohio – The Ohio Bobcats (2-7, 0-0 MAC) were defeated by Wright State (5-3, 0-0 Horizon League) 3-0 (13-25, 16-25, 17-25) on Sunday, Sept. 14.
Overall, Ohio ended with 46 total points, 27 kills, 26 assists, and 5 service aces.
Junior
Torre Kildow (Bethesda, Ohio) was an offensive leader for Ohio, recording 11 kills and 11.5. points. Junior
Emily Waddell (Carmel, Ind.) also earned seven kills. Waddell also helped the Bobcats with four digs and six points.
The first set began with Wright State gaining control. Raiders pulled ahead quickly and had over fifteen on Ohio. The Bobcats did not give up and scored seven to Wright State's three. With a final kill by sophomore
Bryn Janke (Westfield, Wis.), the Raiders were up 25-13 at the end of the set.
In the second set, the Bobcats held their own. While behind, they stayed within a four point difference in the beginning of the set. Sophomore
Lexi Grissett (Albany, Ohio) hit a service ace and brought the score to a one-point difference of 3-4. After that, the score gradually grew wider. By the end, Wright State finished with 25 while Ohio earned 16.
The Raiders took the lead in the third set. After being up 6-0, three back-to-back points by junior
Gentry Brown (Shadyside, Ohio) brought the difference to three. The Bobcats played their best set and kept less than half the point difference for the majority. The set ended 25-17 with Wright State in the lead.
After three 25-point sets for the Raiders, the game ended with a 3-0 victory for Wright State.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Friday, September 19 in Charlotte, N.C. to face Maryland Eastern Shore. The game is set to start at 10:30 a.m.
