DAYTON, Ohio – The Ohio volleyball team (2-6, 0-0 MAC) fell 3-0 (16-25, 15-25, 12-25) to No. 7 Pittsburgh (7-2, 0-0 ACC) on Saturday, Sept. 13.
Ohio finished with 29 kills, four aces, two blocks, 29 assists and 26 digs. Pittsburgh finished with 40 kills, seven aces, eight blocks, 36 assists and 29 digs.
Junior
Gentry Brown (Shadyside, Ohio) was Ohio's top offensive performer, finishing with nine kills and nine points. Freshman
Bailey Blair (Louisville, Ky.) also contributed seven kills and 7.5 points. Sophomore
Bryn Janke (Westfield, Wis.) and senior
Kendall White (Gahanna, Ohio) combined for 22 assists. Sophomore
Darbi Ricketts (Cincinnati, Ohio) tallied a team-high eight digs.
The Panthers gained an early 1-0 lead with a 24-16 win in the first set. The Bobcats went down 2-0 after losing the second set, 25-15. Pittsburgh secured the 3-0 sweep after earning a 25-12 win in the third set.
The Bobcats will conclude competition at the Tru By Hilton Dayton Beavercreek Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 14. Ohio will face tournament host, Wright State, at 2 p.m. ET. The game will be available to watch on ESPN+.
