DAYTON, Ohio – The Ohio volleyball team (2-5, 0-0 MAC) fell 3-0 (16-25, 19-25, 24-26) to Ohio State (2-3, 0-0 B10) on Friday, Sept. 12.
Ohio finished with 34 kills, two aces, seven blocks, 31 assists and 42 digs. Ohio State finished with 45 kills, three aces, five blocks, 42 assists and 50 digs.
Freshman
Bailey Blair (Louisville, Ky.) led Ohio's offense with eight kills and 8.5 points. Sophomore
Sierra Evans (Silver Spring, Md.) finished second on the team in kills with six total. Junior
Gentry Brown (Shadyside, Ohio) contributed five kills and seven points while freshman
Mady Long (Vincent, Ohio) added five kills and six points. Senior
Kendall White (Gahanna, Ohio) recorded a team-high 16 assists.
Defensively, sophomore
Darbi Ricketts (Cincinnati, Ohio) led the team with 10 digs. Junior
Emily Waddell (Carmel, Ind.) made four block assists.
After a 25-16 win in the first set, Ohio State gained an early 1-0 lead. The Buckeyes extended their lead to 2-0 after taking the second set in a 25-19 decision. The Bobcats put up a hard fight in the third set, but it wasn't enough. Ohio State's 26-24 win in the third set solidified its 3-0 victory over Ohio.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 13. In its second match of the Tru by Hilton Dayton Beavercreek Invitational, Ohio will faced No. 7 Pittsburgh. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.
