ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio softball team has added Hailey Massaro to the roster for the 2026 season, head coach Jenna Hall announced today (June 27). Massaro comes to Ohio after stops at Ohio State and East Carolina.

"We are thrilled to add Hailey to our Bobcat softball program," Hall said. "She will bring a high level of experience and softball IQ to our infield. Offensively, she has a consistent bat, and we look forward to seeing how she raises the level of our entire group."

In her two seasons at East Carolina, Massaro played in 71 games, while making 22 starts. She hit .258 with 25 hits, two doubles and three home runs, while driving in 12 and scoring 18. She recorded a .371 slugging percentage, while drawing eight walks for a .339 on base percentage.

Last season, Massaro started in 16 of her 47 games played for the Pirates, primarily as a pinch hitter or at second base. She batted .242 with nine RBI, three home runs and two doubles. Massaro went 2-for-3 at the plate with three runs and three RBI against Loyola Chicago on Feb. 22, while in the field she recorded 15 putouts, seven assists and one error at second base.

Massaro, a Wooster, Ohio native, played high school softball at Triway. She was a First Team All-Ohio selection during her senior season in the spring of 2022. She helped Triway win its first-ever Division II state championship with a 2-1 title-game win over Jonathan Alder and was one of eight finalists for the Roy S. Bates Foundation Player of the Year award. She was named the 2021 Daily Record Softball Player of the Year after tying the state record with 86 RBI and graduated as Triway's career leader in home runs in addition to being a first team all-conference and the district most valuable player. She was a two-sport athlete at Triway who also excelled on the volleyball court as a setter for the Titans.

Massaro played travel ball for the Ohio Hawks and in 2021, she helped her team to a second-place showing at the Junior Olympic Cup while leading the squad in both home runs and RBI.

Massaro is the daughter of Frank and Alicia Massaro and has one brother, Mason, and one sister, Hanna who plays softball at Bowling Green.
