Four Named to 2025 Academic All-District® Softball Team

ATHENS, Ohio -- Four members of the Ohio softball team were named to the 2025 Academic All-District® Softball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, the organization announced today (May. 27). Senior CiCi Keidel, junior Belle Hummel and Shelby Wester and sophomore Mikie Lieving all earned the honor.  

This is the second time that Keidel (Hilliard, Ohio), a Community and Public Health major with a 3.805 GPA, has been named Academic All-District. The senior played and started all 56 games in centerfield this past season. Keidel finished her final year at Ohio with a .306 batting average, which was third on the Bobcats. She recorded a career0high 52 hits and 10 doubles, while also scoring a career-high 38 runs and registering 24 RBI. She also added one home run and a .382 slugging percentage, which also registered as a career high. Keidel drew 14 walks and had a .389 on base percentage, while in the field recording an impressive .972 fielding percentage with two errors, 65 put outs and four assists.  

This is the second time Westler (Marion, Ohio) has earned a spot on the Academic All-District team. The Finance and Marketing double major holds a 3.833 GPA. This season, Westler played and started all 56 games at third base. She recorded a .264 batting average, with 43 hits, nine doubles, one triple and four home runs. She also scored a career-high 25 runs and drove in 17. She recorded a .405 slugging percentage, while drawing 12 walks for a .320 on base percentage. In the field, Westler recorded a .963 fielding percentage at third, with 43 putouts, 137 assists and seven errors. 

This is the first time that Hummel (Cincinnati, Ohio), a Community and Public Health major with a 3.761 GPA, has been named Academic All-District. Hummel played and started all 56 games for Ohio in rightfield. The outfielder hit .280 with 46 hits, three doubles, and three triples, while scoring 35 runs and driving in 10. She added a .335 slugging percentage and drew nine walks for a .318 on base percentage. In the field, Hummel recorded a .974 fielding percentage, with 72 putouts, two assists and two errors. 

This is the first time that Lieving (New Haven, W. Va.), an Exercise Physiology with a 3.637 GPA, has been named Academic All-District. In the circle this season, Lieving went 8-3 with 22 appearances and 11 starts. She recorded a 3.39 ERA with five complete games and three shutouts. In 72.1 innings, she allowed 35 earned runs with 40 strikeouts, while opponents only hit .255 off her. This season, Lieving also saw action at the plate, hitting .211 with four hits in 19 at bats, recording one triple, scored seven runs and recorded one RBI. She has a .316 slugging percentage and stole two bases. 
 
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 17, 2025.
