GROVE CITY, Ohio. – The Ohio Men's Golf team wrapped up competition today (Apr. 29) at the 2025 Mid-American Conference Men's Golf Championships. After a strong final round, the Bobcats claimed 8th overall. Individually, Ohio was led by junior Nathaniel Gray Lamont (Guelph, Ontario), and senior Matt Daulton (Lebanon, Ohio), who finished in a tie for 26th.
The three-day tournament, hosted by Bowling Green at Pinnacle Golf Club, posed a challenge to each of the competitors across the three rounds. Ultimately, Kent State reigned supreme, shooting a 854 (-10) as a team over the three days.
As a team, the Bobcats total score was put together through rounds of 308, 290, and 315, showing improvement through the rounds for a total of 913 (+49).
After the three rounds, Gray Lamont, and Daulton completed the tournament with total scores of 225 (+9). In the final round, Daulton jumped five spots to claim his spot with Gray Lamont.
Overall, Gray Lamont shot rounds of 73 (+1), 74 (+2), and 78 (+6) to finish off his junior campaign and first year with the Bobcats. Gray Lamont finished the tournament with six birdies and a strong consistency of shooting holes at par.
Daulton began his tournament with rounds of 78 (+6), a low round of 71 (-1) before finishing the final round with a 76 (+4). In addition to also shooting five birdie across the three days, Daulton displayed consistency and outstanding performances on par fours which helped him remain in the hunt for the top of the leader board.
Following closely behind was junior Carson Trafford (Dublin, Ohio), who had rounds of 80 (+8), 73 (+1), and 76 (+4) to cap off his strong junior campaign. Trafford showed grit and determination over the three days after an impressive season to show off his skills and tenacity one last time on the green for the year.
Next on the board, junior Will Kates (Centennial, Colorado) shot a total score of 234 (+18). Kates had rounds of 77 (+5), 72 (E), and finished with 85 (+12). He finished strong with seven birdies overall and a consistent showing at par four.
Senior Sam Hogan (Burlington, Ontario) rounded out his final tournament as a Bobcat with a tie for 41st. The senior finished his first round with a 80 (+8), followed by a 77 (+5) and concluded the third round with an 85 (+13). Hogan finished his final tournament with true strength for his skills on the team and shot six birdies.
The MAC Championships will close out the season for Ohio Men's Golf. The Bobcats showed impressive growth throughout the season and will return in the fall for the 2025-26 season.
