ATHENS, Ohio— Ohio football alumnus
Christophe Atkinson signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers today (April 29).
Previously, Ohio football alumnus Casey Sayles was a defensive tackle for the Blue Bombers. Sayles, running back AJ Ouellette and quarterback Nathan Rourke are currently active in the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Atkinson (Leesburg, Va.) played in 48 games across his collegiate career. A staple of the Bobcat offense since 2021, Atkinson is a four-time Academic All-Mid-American Conference and two-time Academic All-District
® recipient.
As an integral member of the 2024 offensive line, Atkinson helped the offense average 29.29 points and 406.1 yards per game while scoring 53 touchdowns on the season. En route to the program's first 11-win season, Atkinson and the offensive line were crucial in the Bobcats' 38-3 victory over the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks, running away with the team's first Mid-American Conference Championship since 1968. Additionally, Atkinson was a part of the offensive unit that set the program record for total offensive yards in a game against Fordham in 2022, recording 692 total yards that game.
Prior to Ohio, Atkinson was a four-year letterwinner as well as all-conference and all-region offensive lineman at Tuscarora High School. He also scored six touchdowns as a tight end. Atkinson helped lead the team to a state runner-up finish in 2017 and a regional semifinal appearance in 2018.
