GROVE CITY, Ohio. – This afternoon (Apr. 27), the Ohio Men's Golf team wrapped up the first round at the 2025 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Men's Golf Championships. The Bobcats had a team score of 308 (+20), finishing the round in ninth place. Individually, junior Nathaniel Gray Lamont (Guelph, Ontario) leads the green and white in a tie for 13th place.
Northern Illinois leads the tournament after the first day with a score of 285 (-3). The tournament is led by Eastern Michigan golfer James Baxter, who shot 67 (-5) with Northern Illinois student-athlete Craig Long II following closely behind in second with 68 (-4).
The tournament is taking place at Pinnacle Golf Course where the course is set to 7,462 yards and a par of 72.
Gray Lamont was the leading golfer for Ohio on the day, shooting a 73 (+1) to earn her spot in the top-20. He was helped by strong performances with shooting three holes under par.
After a round of 77 (+5), junior Will Kates (Centennial, Colorado) finds himself in a tie for 33rd. Consistently played with 10 pars, and two birdies.
Closely behind Kates, senior Matt Daulton (Lebanon, Ohio) finished in a tie for 37th after the first round after shooting an 78 (+6).
Rounding out for the Bobcats was senior Sam Hogan (Burlington, Ontario) and junior Carson Trafford (Dublin, Ohio) who finished in a tie for 42nd with scores of 80 (+8). Hogan shot three birdies and Trafford shot two.
The second round of the 2025 MAC Men's Golf Championships will resume tomorrow (Apr. 28) at 9:00 a.m.
