ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio baseball team (9-30) fell 13-3 to Northern Kentucky (23-16) on Tuesday, April 22.
Ohio finished with four hits and three errors. Northern Kentucky finished with 10 hits and one error.
Four Bobcats finished with one hit each. Senior
Jackson Cauthron (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) led Ohio with two RBI's in addition to one run. Redshirt freshman
Drew Cox (Mason, Ohio) also recorded one RBI.
Freshman
Jimmy Cerha (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) and redshirt sophomore
Kolby Pascarelli (Durham, Conn.) led Ohio on the mound. In 2.1 innings pitched, Cerha recorded two strikeouts on eight batters faced. In 1.0 innings pitched, Pascarelli recorded three strikeouts and allowed two runs on eight batters faced.
Northern Kentucky kicked off the game by scoring two runs in the first inning. Ohio answered back, tying the game at 2-2 with a 2 RBI single by Cauthron. Then, an RBI single by Cox gave Ohio a 3-2 lead at the end of the first.
Northern Kentucky's offense unleashed on Ohio in the second inning, scoring eight runs.
The Bobcats were unable to catch up with the Norse, who went on to the win the game 13-3.
The Bobcats will be back in action against Miami (OH) on Friday, April 25. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. ET and the game will be available to watch on ESPN+.
