FAIRFAX, Va. – Redshirt junior pitcher
Skipp Miller threw a no hitter against Longwood, while the Ohio softball team (16-6) wrapped up the weekend at the George Mason Tournament on Sunday (March 9). With the help of Miller's no hitter, Ohio defeated Longwood (6-15), 1-0, in game one, before defeating George Mason (5-15), 2-1, in the final game of the weekend.
GAME ONE: Ohio 1, Longwood 0
In the circle, Miller (Bradford, Ohio) threw all seven innings, allowing no runs on no hits, walked one and struck out seven, while only needing 89 pitches for her first career seven-inning no hitter.
Overall, Ohio scored one run on seven hits and did not commit an error, while Longwood did not record a run or a hit and committed one error.
Individually, senior
CiCi Keidel (Hilliard, Ohio) recorded two hits, two stolen bases and scored Ohio's lone run. Junior
Shelby Westler (Marion, Ohio) added two hits, while junior
Belle Hummel (Cincinnati, Ohio) added two hits and one double. Sophomore
Brenna Farmer (Mt. Blanchard, Ohio) added one hit and one stolen base for the Bobcats.
Ohio struck first in the bottom of the first inning. With one out, Keidel singled and stole second and then moved to third on a single by Farmer. Moments later, the Bobcats executed a double steal, allowing Keidel to score, giving Ohio a 1-0 lead after the first inning.
Ohio looked to add on in the bottom of the second with Westler reaching on a leadoff single and a double from Hummel putting runners on second and third with two outs. However, the Bobcats were unable to push a run across, sending the game to the third with Ohio leading, 1-0.
After a scoreless third, Ohio once again looked to add on in the bottom of the fourth after Westler once again reached on a leadoff single. With two outs, Westler moved to second on a single from Hummel, however, Ohio was once again unable to capitalize, sending the game to the fifth with the Bobcats still leading, 1-0.
After a scoreless fifth and sixth innings from the Ohio offense, Miller entered the circle to close out her stellar performance. It took no time for Miller to complete the job, sending Longwood down in order, securing the 1-0 win and the no hitter.
GAME TWO: Ohio 2, George Mason 1
Overall, Ohio scored two runs on three hits and committed one error, while George Mason scored one run on three hits and committed three errors.

Maddie Wilcox (Grove City, Ohio) had two hits, while Westler had a triple and an RBI. Senior
Lauren Yuhas (West Mifflin, Pa.) drew a walk and scored a run, while senior
Emma Hoffner (New Stanton, Pa.) recorded one RBI and scored one run for the Bobcats.
In the circle, freshman
Anna Wise (Broadview Heights, Ohio) got the start, pitching seven innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits, while walking two and striking out four to earn the win.
After Ohio loaded the bases in the top of the second and were unable to score, Ohio finally got on the board in the top of the third. After Yuhas walked to lead off the inning, she later scored when Hoffner reached on an error. Moments later, Westler tripled to right field, scoring Hoffner and giving Ohio a 2-0 lead going into the bottom of the inning.
George Mason got a run back in the bottom of the fifth inning. After the Patriots got the first two runners on, George Mason was able to drive home a run on an RBI single. With runners on first and second, Ohio was able to get the final two batters out, sending the game to the sixth with the 2-1 lead.
Ohio looked to add on in the top of the sixth with a two-out single from Wilcox, however, the Bobcats were unable to add on, keeping the lead at one. After a scoreless sixth for George Mason and top of the seventh for Ohio, the Patriots looked to rally in the bottom of the seventh, but the Ohio defense was able to send them down in order, securing the 2-1 win.

The Bobcats finally return to Athens on Thursday, March 13 when they Bobcats host Stonehill College. The doubleheader is set to begin at 1 p.m. ET at the Ohio Softball Field.
