ATHENS, Ohio –It's MAC Championship Week for swim and dive and indoor track and field, while men's and women's basketball host Miami and baseball plays ball at Bob Wren. Check out everything that's ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints.

The Ohio men's basketball team (15-12, 9-5 MAC) is back in action this week for two of the Bobcats' final four regular season games this week. The Bobcats open the week on Tuesday, Feb. 25 when they head to Kalamazoo, Mich. to take on Western Michigan (9-18, 6-8 MAC). Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.ET  inside University Arena and can be seen on ESPN+. The Bobcats then return to Athens for their final Saturday game of regular season on Saturday, March 1 to host Miami (20-7, 11-3 MAC) for the second round of the 'Battle of the Bricks'. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. ET inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN+. 

Ohio is coming off of a 2-0 week that saw the Bobcats snap Akron's nation-leading 14-game winning streak and handing them their first MAC loss of the season. Junior guard Jackson Paveletzke helped lead the Ohio men's basketball team to a 2-0 week, including a commanding victory over MAC-leading Akron Saturday night. Overall, Paveletzke averaged 21.5 points a game, while going 16-of-25 (.640) from the field and was a perfect 10-for-10 from the line. He also averaged 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game. On Feb. 18 against Central Michigan, Paveletzke scored 22 points - 20 of them coming in the second half. Paveletzke went 8-of-12 from the field, 1-of-2 from there and was 5-of-5 from the line, while adding six rebounds, four assists and one steal in 35 minutes in the 84-82 victory. Paveletzke was back in action on Saturday against Akron, leading all scorers with 21 points, going 8-of-13 from the field and 5-of-5 from the line. He also grabbed four rebounds, dished out two assists and had two steals in the 84-67 victory, which snapped the Zips' 14-game inning streak and handed them their first loss in conference play this season.

Western Michigan enters the matchup with the Bobcats with a 9-18 record and a 6-8 mark in MAC play, with the Broncos coming off a loss against Central Michigan on Saturday in Kalamazoo. Miami is currently 20-7 overall and 11-3 in MAC play and are coming off an overtime win over Kent State Friday night. Miami will face off with NIU in Oxford on Tuesday before coming to Athens.

Ohio women's basketball (6-19, 4-10 MAC) is back in action for two more MAC matchups this week. The Bobcats start the week on the road on Wednesday, Feb. 26 when they head to Bowling Green, Ohio to take on Bowling Green (15-11, 8-6 MAC). Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the Stroh Center and can be seen on ESPN+. Ohio then heads back to Athens for the final Saturday home game of the season on Saturday, March 1 when the Bobcats host Miami 16-9, 8-6 MAC() for the second round of the 'Battle of the Bricks'. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m. ET inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN+. The game is apart of a men's and women's basketball doubleheader in the Convo and it's Senior Day, with Ohio's seniors being honored at the conclusion of the game. 

The Bobcats are coming off back-to-back wins for the first time this season, after defeating NIU at home and Akron on the road last week. Senior Kennedi Watkins led Ohio last week, averaging 18.0 points and 5.5 rebounds a game. She shot .500 from the field, .364 from three and .500 from the line, while sophomore Bailey Tabeling added 16.0 points a game, shooting .409 from the field and going 9-of-10 from the line. 

Bowling Green is currently 15-11 overall and 8-6 in MAC play and are coming off a win against Toledo on Saturday. Miami is 16-9 overall and 8-6 in MAC play. The RedHawks are coming off a loss to Buffalo on Saturday and will travel to Eastern Michigan on Wednesday before coming to Athens.

The Ohio swimming and diving team heads to Buffalo, N.Y. for the 2025 Mid-American Conference Championships, Feb. 26-March 1. The four-day event will take place inside the Alumni Arena Natatorium. Wednesday's events are set to begin at 6 p.m. ET with the 200 medley relay and the 800 free relay. The final three days of competition will begin with preliminary races beginning at 10 a.m., with finals scheduled to start at 6 p.m. ET each evening. All four days will be streamed on YouTube. 

Last year, the Bobcats placed third at the MAC Championships, with sophomore Zita Szoke and junior Casadie DiBetta earning MAC Championships and All-MAC honors, while Szoke was named the Freshman Swimmer of the year. 

Ohio enters this year's event with a 4-1 record in dual meets. The entire Ohio squad last competed a month ago against Eastern Michigan on senior day, defeating the Eagles, 272.5-79.5. In the 200-yard medley relay, the Ohio 'A' team of junior Allison Schrank, DiBetta, Szoke) and graduate student Caroline Dunigan (Lansdale, Pa.) placed first, finishing with a time of 1:38.50. The finish set a new school record for the Bobcats in the 200 medley relay, shaving .47 off the previous record of 1:38.97 that was set last year.

The Ohio track and field team is set for the 2025 Mid-American Conference indoor Championships Feb. 28-March 1. The two-day event is hosted by Eastern Michigan inside Bowen Field House. Both days are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. ET. 

Ohio is looking to improve on last year's 11th place finish, entering the championships with a number of athletes who have set personal records during the regular season. 

Ohio last competed Feb. 14-15 at the Marshall Invite and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational. At Marshall, senior Taja Booker qualified for the finals in the 60m with a sixth place and personal-best time of 7.72. In the finals, Booker did not finish the race. Booker also won the women's 200m with a season-best time of 24.58. Then at Marshall, senior Kelsi Harris led Ohio in the event, finishing 75th with a PR of 9:26.14.

The Ohio baseball team (1-5) is back in action and in Athens this week. Ohio begins the week on the road on Wednesday, Feb. 26 when Ohio heads to Morgantown, W Va. to take on West Virginia (5-0). First pitch is set for 2 p.m. at Wagener Field at Kendrick Family Ballpark and can be seen on ESPN+. Ohio then returns to Athens Feb. 28-March 2 when they host Butler (3-3) for a three-game series. The weekend begins on Friday, Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. ET inside Bob Wren Stadium. The series continues on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET, before wrapping up on Sunday at 1 p.m. Friday and Saturday's games can be seen on ESPN+, with Saturday being streamed on YouTube. 

Ohio is coming off a 1-2 week at West Georgia. Ohio picked up a win on Saturday, defeating West Georgia, 4-2, on the road. Four different Bobcats scored a run for Ohio. Sophomore Caleb Karll finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Freshman Matt Ineich also recorded two hits and finished 2-for-4 at the plate.Graduate student Jacob Tate started on the mound for Ohio, recording two strikeouts on five at bats. Senior Hudson Boncal relieved Tate on the mound and pitched 4.1 innings. Boncal threw seven strikeouts, allowed six hits and two runs on 18 at bats. Seniors Adam Beery and Tyler Peck recorded one strikeout each. Peck pitched for two innings and earned a save.

WVU is currently 5-0 and will wrap up a four-game series against Lipscomb on Monday before hosting Ohio. Butler is currently 3-3 overall and will face off with louisville on Wednesday before coming to Athens.

The Ohio softball team (9-4) is back in action for five games this weekend when they head to Nashville, Tenn. Geb. 28-March 2 for the 2025 Purple/Gold Challenge host by Lipscomb at Draper Diamond at Smith Stadium. The weekend starts on Friday, Feb. 28 when Ohio takes on Northern Iowa (6-3) at 12 p.m. ET, followed by a matchup with host Lipscomb (6-8). Ohio and Northern Iowa face off again at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 1, followed by another matchup against Lipscomb. Ohio concludes the weekend on Sunday, March 2 against Illinois State (3-9) at 12 p.m. ET. 

Ohio is coming off a 4-0 weekend at the Low Country Classic that saw Ohio defeat Dartmouth twice and Rhode Island and host College of Charleston once. Senior designated player Maddie Wilcox helped lead the Ohio softball team to a 4-0 weekend at the 2025 Low Country Classic hosted by College of Charleston. Overall, Wilcox hit .417 with five hits, two doubles and four RBI, while scoring two runs and recording seven total bases. Wilcox also recorded a .583 slugging percentage and a .462 on base percentage. Freshman pitcher Anna Wise helped lead the Ohio pitching staff that recorded an overall staff ERA of 0.00 on the weekend, only allowing two unearned runs all weekend. Overall, Wise contributed two starts and two wins with one complete game shutout. Wise pitched 12.0 innings, allowing two unearned runs on five hits, while walking one and striking out six, with opponents only hitting, .116 against her. 

Northern Iowa is 6-3 overall and is coming off a win over Furman and will take on Wofford on Tuesday at home before heading to Nashville. Host Lipscomb is currently 6-8 and is coming off a loss to Notre Dame on Sunday, while Illinois State is 3-9 overall and is coming off a win against SEMO in Sunday.
