SPARTANBURG, S.C. —
The Ohio baseball team dropped its series finale to Wofford 13-12 on Sunday afternoon despite a comeback attempt.

Senior pitcher Hudson Boncal (Corona, Calif.) was charged the loss after issuing six runs, five earned, over three and ? innings. He relieved starter graduate student Jacob Tate (Louisville, Tenn.) after 2/3 innings.

Ohio tied Wofford's four-run lead in the top of the second inning after back-to-back doubles by graduate student Trenton Neuer (Nicholasville, Ky.) and Nick Dolan (Pittsburgh, Pa.), as well as a single from Sophomore J.R. Nelson (Vernon Hills, Ill.).

The Bobcats took over the game in the top of the third on a two-run home run by sophomore Ben Slanker (Canfield, Ohio). The knock was Slankers' second career home run. Slanker was also responsible for earning the lead back for the Bobcats in the top of the fourth on a single through the left side.

Wofford broke through Ohio's comeback with two home runs by Ryan Winn — a two-run and three-run shot — in the bottom of the fifth and sixth, respectively.

Ohio tried to patch the game in the top of the eighth after sophomore Pauly Mancino (Westlake, Ohio) reached on an error with one out to score Nelson. After that, Neuer and Slanker recorded back-to-back singles to score two more runs. However, it was not enough to get Ohio the win.

Freshman Matt Ineich (South Lyon, Mich.) led the Bobcats at the plate with four hits, including a double. Nelson and Neuer followed him with three each, with Neuer having three RBI.

On the mound, senior Tyler Peck (Oak Creek, Wis.) took charge with four strikeouts. He allowed zero runs through his two and ? innings to close the game.

Ohio will be back in action on February 21 to take on West Georgia in Carrollton, Georgia. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
