ATHENS, Ohio – As we close out 2025 and roll into 2026, men's and women's basketball and wrestling are diving headfirst into MAC play! Check out everything that's ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints, presented by Memorial Health System.
MEN'S BASKETBALL

The Ohio men's basketball team (5-7, 0-1 MAC) close out 2025 and open 2026 in the state of Michigan. The week begins on Tuesday, Dec. 30 when Ohio heads to Mount Pleasant, Mich. to take on Central Michigan (4-8, 0-1 MAC). Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. ET inside McGurik Arena and can be seen on ESPN+. Ohio then heads to Ypsilanti, Mich. on Saturday, Jan. 3 to take on Eastern Michigan (6-7, 0-1 MAC). Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. ET inside the Gervin GameAbove Center and can be seen on ESPN+.
The Bobcats' matchup can also be heard on the Ohio Sports Network from Learfield, presented by Holzer Health System. Jason Toy begins his second season on the mic for the Bobcats and will be joined by veteran and will be joined by veteran college basketball analyst Dave Cecutti. WXTQ (Power 105) in Athens returns as the 11-station net- work's flagship and can be heard on the Varsity Network App.
Ohio concluded nonconference plan on Dec. 22, defeating Miami-Hamilton, 102-59, inside the Convocation Center. Freshman Jordan Fisher scored a career-high 17 points, while senior Dior Conners added 16 points, with a total of seven Bobcats scoring in double figures. Overall, on the season, senior Jackson Paveletzke leads Ohio with 16.8 points a game and 4.0 assists, while senior Aidan Hadaway adds 13.2 points and 7.5 rebounds a game. Redshirt junior Javan Simmons averages 12.7 points and 4.6 rebounds a game.
Central Michigan is 4-8 overall and is 0-1 in MAC play. CMU dropped it's MAC opener against NIU on Dec. 20 and fell to Wisconsin on the road on Dec. 22. CMU is led by Nathan Claerbaut with 13.2 points and 6.8 rebounds a game.
Eastern Michigan is currently 6-7 overall and 0-1 in MAC play. The Eagles dropped their MAC opener to Akron on Dec. 19 and are coming off a loss at Wright State on Dec. 22. EMU will take on UMass at home on Tuesday before hosting the Bobcats. Leading EMU is Mohammad Habhab with 14.5 points a game and 7.8 rebounds, while Carlos Hart adds 13.4 points a game.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The Ohio women's basketball team (6-4, 0-0 MAC) opens Mid-American Conference play this week with two matchups. The week begins on Wednesday, Dec. 31 when Ohio heads to Mount Pleasant, Mich. to take on Central Michigan (7-4, 1-0 MAC). Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. ET inside McGurik Arena and can be seen on ESPN+. Ohio then heads back to Athens to take on Akron (3-9. 0-0 MAC) on Saturday, Jan. 3. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. ET inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN+.
Ohio is coming off a win against Wilberforce (Ohio) on Dec. 28 inside the Convo, with five Bobcats scoring in double figures in the 96-64 victory. Five Bobcats finished with double-figure points with sophomore Gigi Bower leading the team in scoring. Bower scored a season-high 19 points; finishing 7-for-12 from the field and 5-for-9 from the arc. Junior Antonicia Moultrie finished with 12 points while redshirt sophomore Bella Ranallo and sophomore Danni Scully scored 11 points each. Redshirt sophomore Monica Williams rounded out Ohio's double-figure point scorers with 10 points.
For Ohio, Bailey Tabeling leads Ohio with 12.1 points and 4.2 rebounds a game, while Ranallo adds 11.1 points a contest.
Central Michigan is currently 7-4 overall and 1-0 in MAC play and are coming off an 89-51 win over NIU on Dec. 20 to open conference play. Leading CMU is Madi Morson with 15.7 points and 3.7 rebounds a game, while Ayanna-Sarai Darrington adds 13.1 points and 6.1 boards a game.
Akron is 3-9 overall and is coming off a 94-68 win over Le Moyne on Dec. 21 on the road. The Zips will open MAC play on Wednesday at hoe against Ball State before heading to Athens to take on the Bobcats. The Zips are led by Ni'rah Clark with 12.0 points and 5.9 rebounds a game, followed by Monique Mitchell with 10.5 points a game.
WRESTLING

The Ohio wrestling team (3-1, 0-0 MAC) returns to Athens for the first time since Nov. 14 when Ohio hosts Bloomsburg (8-6, 0-1 MAC) to open MAC play on Friday, Jan. 2. The dual is set to begin at 7 p.m. ET inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN+.
The Bobcats are coming off two dominate road performances Dec. 20 and 21, with Ohio taking down Davison, 28-10 and Gardner-Webb, 28-25 on the road. Redshirt seniors Sal Perrine and Zayne Lehman improved their dual meet records to 4-0, and redshirt junior Derek Raike improved his season record to 12-3. All three increased their rankings in the national rankings following their victories, with Perrine raking in the top-20 in the International, FloWrestling and The Open Mat rankings.
Bloomsburg is 8-6 overall and 1-0 in MAC duals. Bloomsburg is coming off two wins at the VMI Duals on Dec. 20, defeating both VMI and Sacred Heart. Their MAC loss came on Dec. 5 against Buffalo at home.
