Three Ohio Field Hockey Members Named to All-MAC Teams

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced field hockey all-conference teams on Tuesday, naming three Bobcats to the second team.

Senior Sasha Dikotla (Johannesburg, South Africa), senior Anouk Plaehn (Hanover, Germany), and Freshman Tiana Nhamoinesu (Thrisk, North Yorkshire) were all named to the All-MAC second team. In addition, Nhamoinesu was named to the MAC all-freshman team, capping a strong first season in green and white.

Nhamoinesu made an instant impact in her first year with the Bobcats, logging 672 minutes across 16 games. Nhamoinesu lead the team in goals (6), shots (33), and shots on goal (23). Nhamoinesu finished the year on a hot streak, scoring in five consecutive games for the Bobcats, highlighted by a two goal performance at Kent State in a 6-4 win.

Senior captain Dikotla logged 745 minutes across 16 games while leading the Bobcat attack. Dikotla is tied for the team lead in assists second on the team in goals with four and tied for the team lead in assists, highlighted by an overtime game-winning goal to clinch the Bobcat's first win of the season at UC Davis.

Senior captain Plaehn logged 895 across 16 games this season, anchoring a Bobcat back line that ranked fourth in the conference in goals against and fifth in opponent scoring average. Plaehn additionally contributed on the offensive scoresheet adding two goals and an assist on 26 shots (11 on goal). Plaehn scored the game-winning goal in an upset win over #11 UMass, that secured a victory in Ohio's first home game of the season.

The sixth-seeded Bobcats (5-12, 3-6 MAC) will begin postseason play on Wednesday when they face third seed Appalachian State (13-5, 7-2 MAC) in the first round of the MAC Field Hockey Championship in Harrisonburg, Va. First touch is set for 2:30 PM and will be streamed on ESPN+.
