MAC Announces 2026 Field Hockey Preseason Poll

CLEVELAND – Ohio Field Hockey was selected sixth in this year's Mid-American Conference Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league's 10 head coaches, the league announced today (Aug. 26).
Miami was selected to place first in this year's poll with 81 points and nine first-place votes. UMass was picked second with 73 points and one first-place vote, while App State (62 points), James Madison (60 points) and Kent State (44 points) were all selected to finish above the Bobcats.Â
Ohio was picked sixth overall with 42 points, while Central Michigan (31 points), Ball State (28 points, Bellarmine (15 points) and Longwood (14 points) were all picked to finish below the Bobcats.Â
Miami was selected to win the 2026 MAC Tournament with nine votes, while UMass garnered one vote.Â
Ohio opens the 2026 season on Friday, Aug. 28 when the Bobcats host Michigan State. First touch is set for 1 p.m. ET at Pruitt Field and can be seen on ESPN+.
