CLEVELAND – The Ohio football program's redshirt senior running back
Sieh Bangura earned Mid-American Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week accolades following his performance during the Bobcats' 42-14 victory over the Massachusetts Minutemen (Nov. 18). He shares the title with Toledo running back Chip Trayanum, rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown on 15 attempts in the Rockets' 38-9 win over Ball State.
This marks Bangura's third time earning conference honors this season. He earned his first Offensive Player of the Week nod of the season following his dominant performance during Ohio's Homecoming matchup against NIU (Oct. 18) and opened Midweek MACtion with the team's first Special Teams Player of the Week recognition when he scored a 97-yard kick return touchdown against the Miami RedHawks (Nov. 4).
Bangura had a career night against UMass, leading the Bobcats to their 13th consecutive victory on Frank Solich Field. Logging a career-high 196 rushing yards on 27 touches, the running back scored two of Ohio's six rushing touchdowns. Bangura's career night included surpassing 1,000 rush yards on the season for the second time in his career, becoming the fifth Bobcat in program history to reach that mark. The redshirt senior also passed 3,000 career rushing yards, becoming the fifth Ohio player to record such a stat as well. Bangura is the fourth Bobcat in program history to hit both career milestones.
The Bobcats are set to close their regular season on Friday, Nov. 28, in Buffalo, N.Y. Kick is set for 12 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPNU.
