ATHENS, Ohio – Intermat released their fourth set of national rankings on Tuesday, ranking three Bobcat wrestlers among the best in the nation at their respective weight classes. Redshirt seniors
Garrett Thompson (Murrysville, Pa.),
Sal Perrine (Northfield, Ohio), and
Zayne Lehman (Akron, Ohio) are nationally ranked at 174, 184, and 197 lbs, respectively.
Ranked ninth at 174 lbs, Thompson is coming off a stellar 2024-25 season in which he posted a 30-7 record, going 10-1 in duals and an undefeated 7-0 in MAC competition. He recorded four falls and nine technical falls, earning multiple podium finishes and establishing himself as one of the MAC's top competitors. Thompson took home the title at 174 lbs. at the 2025 MAC Wrestling Championships, and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler.
Ranked 32
nd at 184 lbs, Perrine enters the rankings for the first time this season after a commanding victory in Saturday night's dual vs. Wisconsin, defeating 33rd-ranked Cale Anderson by major decision, 10-2. Perrine maintained control throughout the match, preventing Anderson from scoring points until the third period. Perrine continues to build momentum in his return to the mat, holding a 2-0 record this season.
Ranked 27
th at 197 lbs, Lehman moves up in this week's rankings following a defeat of Wisconsin's Wyatt Ingham in by decision, 7-0 on Saturday night. Lehman took control of the match in the second period, earning the first four points of the match. Lehman recorded a takedown in the third period and took the advantage in riding time, adding dour points to secure the victory by decision.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Sunday, November 23 in Boone, N.C. for the Mountaineer Open. The match will start at 10 a.m. and live results will be available on FloWrestling.
