SALEM, Va. – The Ohio wrestling team opened the 2025-26 season on Sunday at the Southeast Open in Salem, Va.
Open Highlights
Redshirt sophomore
Jeremy Olszko (Northfield, Ohio) notched the Bobcat's first win of the day, wrestling at 184 lbs. After a bye in the round of 32, Olszko defeated North Carolina by decision, 10-5. The North Carolina opponent began the first period with a takedown, but Olszko earned an escape, takedown, and nearfall in the second period to pull ahead for the win.
Wrestling in the 165 lb. bracket, redshirt junior
Jack Lledo (Penn Valley, Pa.) lost in the round of 16 with a 17-4 major decision. After moving to the consolation bracket, Lledo pulled an 8-2 decision win against Maryland in the round of eight. Lledo earned a takedown in the first and third period with an escape in the second.
Wrestling at 125 lbs. for Ohio was junior
Ryan Meek (Lubbering, Mo.). After his bye, Meek lost a 6-5 decision in the round of 16, moving him to the consolation bracket. In the consolation round of 16, Meek was successful defeating his opponent by 2-0 decision.
Wrestling in the 157 lb. for Ohio was redshirt junior
Logan Cravatas (Medina, Ohio). In the round of 32, Cravatas lost to NC State, moving to the consolation bracket. In the consolation of 16, Cravatas recorded a takedown and nearfall back-to-back in the first period, ending the match early with a 7-1 fall.
In his second consolation match, Cravatas was successful again with a 14-3 major decision. Cravatas was quick with a takedown in the first period to gain the lead. In the second, he earned another and an escape point. Going into the third, Cravatas achieved two more takedowns to defeat his opponent from VMI.
Freshman/Sophomore Highlights
Freshman
Carson Weber (Shorewood, Ill.) provided the highlight of the day for the Bobcats, taking home the title in the 149 lb. freshman/sophomore bracket. Weber began his day in the round of 16, defeating his opponent from Presbyterian by major decision, 12-3. Weber moved on to the quarterfinals, defeating his opponent by decision, 4-0. In the semi finals, Weber again won by major decision, this time by a score of 12-1. Wrestling in the final, Weber was dominant, taking home a victory by technical fall, 15-0 with 5:31 remaining.
The Bobcats will be back in action at the Ohio Showcase in Athens on Saturday, November 8. The showcase is set to start at 5 p.m. and will be streaming on ESPN+.
