ATHENS, Ohio – It's MAC Championship time for men's and women's cross country and field hockey wraps up the regular season, while wrestling opens the 2025-26 season at the Southeast Open. Check out everything that's ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints, presented by Memorial Health System.

The Ohio men's and women's cross country teams head to Buffalo, N.Y. this Saturday, Nov. 1 to compete in the 2025 Mid-American Conference Championships. This year's event is hosted by Buffalo at the Audubon Golf Course. The men's 8k is set to begin at 11 a.m. ET, while the women's 6k is set to start at Noon ET. Both races will be streamed on YouTube.
The men's team is looking to win it's first MAC Championship since 1996 and individual championship since 2018, while the women are looking to earn the title for the first time since 2007 and their first individual title since 2013.

The Ohio women's concluded the 2025 regular season last weekend at the Wild Bill Invite in Dayton, placing first overall. Senior
Morgan Roth was Ohio's top performer of the day. Roth placed first overall in the women's 5k with a time of 18:06.0. Freshman

Sara Doughman crossed the finish line right behind Roth. Shreve placed second overall with a personal-best time of 18:25.1. Doughman placed third with a personal-best time of 18:26.7.

The Ohio volleyball team (8-15, 6-5 MAC) is back in action for three matchups this week starting on Tuesday, Oct. 28 when the Bobcats host Kent State (8-14, 3-8 MAC). First serve is set for 6 p.m. ET inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN+. Ohio then heads to Mount Pleasant, Mich. for two matchups against Central Michigan (9-14, 6-5 MAC). The Bobcats are back in action against CMU on Friday, Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. ET, before wrapping up the weekend series on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 4 p.m. ET. inside McGuirk Arena. Both games can be seen on ESPN+.
Kent State comes to Athens with an 8-14 overall record and a 3-8 mark in MAC play. The Flashes are coming off back-to-back losses at home to Central Michigan last weekend. The Bobcats defeated Kent State in three sets earlier this season on the road. Meanwhile, Central Michigan is currently 9-14 overall and 6-5 in MAC play. CMU is coming off two wins over Kent State on the road last weekend and will take on Eastern Michigan on Tuesday before hosting Ohio.
Ohio is coming off a 1-1 week that included taking Ball State to five sets on Friday, before sweeping the then-conference undefeated Cardinals on Saturday in Muncie.
On Saturday, Ohio finished with a .406 attack percentage, 55 kills, three aces, six blocks, 53 assists and 49 digs. Ball State finished with a .141 attack percentage, 28 kills, three aces, five blocks, 28 assists and 26 digs. Junior Gentry Brown was Ohio's top performer of the game against Ball State. Brown recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs. She recorded a team-high 12.0 points in addition to three assists, two blocks and one ace. Freshman Bailey Blair led Ohio's offense against Ball State. Blair recorded a .444 attack percentage with 11 kills and three errors on 18 total attacks. FIELD HOCKEY

The Ohio field hockey team (5-11, 3-5 MAC) concludes the 2025 regular season on Friday, Oct. 31 when the Bobcats travel to Harrisonburg, Va. to take on James Madison () for MAC Tournament implications. First touch is set for 2 p.m. at the JMU Field Hockey Complex and can be seen on ESPN+.
James Madison is 10-7 overall and 5-3 in MAC play and are coming off a 3-2 OT victory over Kent State on Sunday on the road.
The Bobcats are coming off a home finale loss to MAC-leading Miami on Friday in Athens. Individually, the Bobcats were led by freshman Tiana Nhamoinesu, who scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season.
WRESTLING

The Ohio wrestling team opens the 2025-26 season on Sunday, Nov. 2 when they head to Salem, Va. for the 2025 Southeast Open. The event is set to begin at 9 a.m. ET inside the Cregger Center on the campus of Roanoke College
The Bobcats finished last season with an 8-4 overall record and 6-2 in MAC competition, showing steady improvement and resilience throughout the dual slate.
The Bobcats return several proven contributors, including captains Garrett Thompson, Sal Perrine, and Zayne Lehman. All three bring experience, toughness, and consistency to the lineup while setting the tone for a driven roster.
Thompson remains a driving force for Ohio after an impressive 30-7 record last season, going 10-1 in duals and an undefeated 7-0 in MAC competition. At 174 pounds, he recorded four falls and nine technical falls, earning multiple podium finishes and establishing himself as one of the MAC's top competitors. Perrine, who returns after a season away, is expected to make an immediate impact in the same weight class with his experience and aggressiveness.
At 184 pounds, Lehman provides leadership and a steady presence, while Jeremy Olszko (Northfield, Ohio) is coming off a breakout 22-10 campaign, finishing 9-3 in duals with seven MAC victories.
The Bobcats open the home portion of their schedule on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 5 p.m. for the 2025 Ohio Showcase inside the Convocation Center. The event will see Division I, II, and III dual meets run simultaneously, with the DI mat set to be streamed on ESPN+, with the DII and DII mats set to be streamed on YouTube.
