ATHENS, Ohio –It's the first week of classes for the spring semester and it's a big week in the Convo with men's and women's basketball and wresting set to face off with MAC opponents in Athens! Check out everything that's ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

The Ohio men's basketball team (9-6, 3-0 MAC) is back in action this week for two more big early season MAC contests. The week gets started on Tuesday, jan. 14 when Ohio hosts Ball State (8-7, 2-1 MAC). Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN+. The game will serve as Ohio's Green and White game and fans are encouraged to stripe the Convo. And the first 400 students will receive a green OHIO Basketball T-Shirt. Ohio is back on the road on Friday, Jan. 17 when Ohio heads to Akron to take on the Zips (10-5, 3-0 MAC). Tip-off is set fro 6 p.m. inside James A. Rhodes Arena and it can be seen on CBS Sports network.

Ohio is coming off a 2-0 week that saw the Bobcats pick up a road win at Buffalo and a commanding 108-70 home win against Northern Illinois on Saturday. Senior forward AJ Clayton scored his 1,000th career point and led the Ohio men's basketball team to a 2-0 week, helping the Bobcats to a 3-0 start to MAC play. Overall, Clayton averaged 29.0 points per game, while going 20-of-30 (.667) from the field, 13-of-18 (.722) from three and 5-of-8 (.625) from there line. He also averaged 5.5 rebounds a game, 1.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.5 blocks on the week. Against NIU, Clayton scored 31 points, going 10-of-12 from the field, 9-of-10 from three and 2-of-4 from the line. He also had four rebounds and dished out two assists with one steal and two blocks in just 18 minutes on the court. Clayton's nine threes set a career-high for the senior and is the most threes in a game for a single Bobcat since 2020.

Ball State enters the matchup with the Bobcats with an 8-7 record and a 2-1 mark in MAC play and is coming off a 91-86 win over Bowling Green on Saturday in Muncie. Akron is 10-5 and -0 in MAC play and is coming off a victory at Eastern Michigan on Saturday. The Zips will host Toledo on Tuesday before welcoming the Bobcats to town.

Ohio women's basketball (3-11, 1-3 MAC) is back in action this week for two more MAC matchups. The week begins on Wednesday, Jan. 15 when Ohio hosts Bowling Green (6-9, 1-2 MAC). Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. ET inside the Convo and can be seen on ESPN+. The Bobcats will host a post game autograph session for fans following the game. Ohio then hits the road on Saturday Jan. 18 to take on Toledo (11-3, 3-1 MAC). Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. inside Savage Arena and can be seen on ESPN+. 

Ohio is coming off a competitive week against WMU and Kent State. Senior guard Kennedi Watkins led Ohio over the two games, averaging 22.5 points and 6.5 rebounds a game. She also went 18-of-40 from the field and shot .857 from the line. She also had one assist, one block and four steals. 

Bowling Green comes to Athens with a 6-9 record and a 1-2 mark in MAC play. The Falcons are coming off a loss at Ball State on Saturday. Meanwhile, Toledo is 11-3 overall and 3-1 in MAC play and are coming off a win at Central Michigan on Saturday in Mount Pleasant. The Rockets will head to Western Michigan on Wednesday before hosting the Bobcats on Saturday. 

TRACK AND FIELD
Jan. 17 / at Al Campbell Invite / Akron, Ohio / The Stile Athletics Field House / 4 p.m. ET / Meet Information / Live Results 

The Ohio track team returns to action on Friday, Jan. 17 when they head to Akron, Ohio for the 2025 Al Campbell Invite. The meet is set to begin at 4 p.m. inside The Stile Athletics Field House. 

Ohio is coming off a trip to the Falcon Early Bird Open on Jan. 10 in Bowling Green. Ohio swept the women's pole vault with sophomore Emilee Baumann winning the event (3.50m/11-5.75). Freshman Quin Zacamy placed second (3.35m/10-11.75) and sophomore Abigail Cornell  placed third (3.20m/10-6). Sophomore Ellie Greenwell was a top performer for Ohio in the track events. Greenwell won the women's mile with a time of 4:51.94 and placed second in the women's 800m with a time of 2:14.21.

WRESTLING
Jan. 19 / vs Edinboro / Athens, Ohio / Convocation Center / 1 p.m. ET  / ESPN+ / Watch / Live Stats / Digital Guide

Thw Ohio wresting team (4-2, 2-0 MAC) are back in action Jan. 19 when the Bobcats host Edinboro (6-2, 0-1 MAC) for a MAC dual inside the Convocation Center. The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN+. 

Edinboro enters the matchup with Ohio with a 6-2 mark and an 0-1 record in MAC play. 

Ohio is coming off a weekend at the 2025 NWCA National Duals, finishing the weekend with a 23-17 victory over George Mason. Redshirt senior TJ England (South Hampton, Pa.) and redshirt junior Garrett Thompson (Murraysville, Pa.) both finished 2-0 on Saturday.
