AKRON, Ohio – The Ohio volleyball team (4-8, 0-1 MAC) fell at Akron (5-8, 1-0 MAC) 3-1 (21-25, 25-18, 25-27, 17-25) on Friday, Sept. 27.
Junior
Anna Kharchynska (Kyiv, Ukraine) led Ohio's offense with a team-high 17 kills in addition to 17.0 points and a .394 hitting percentage. Sophomore
Kam Hunt (Sylvania, Ohio) tallied a team-high 17.5 points along with 14 kills, four blocks and five digs. Sophomore
Olivia Gardner (Macomb, Mich.) and graduate student
Elizabeth Hoerlein (Mason, Ohio) contributed eight and six kills each, respectively.
Sophomore
Kendall Hickey (Fishers, Ind.) led the team in digs with a career-high of 29. Freshman
Darbi Ricketts (Cincinnati, Ohio) recorded 11 digs, second most of the team, six kills and seven points.
Akron took the first set, 25-21. The Bobcats answered back with a strong response as they took the second set in a 25-18 decision. The Zips went on the win the next two sets, 27-25 and 25-17.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 28 as they close out their MAC series at Akron. The match is set to start at 4 PM ET.
