ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio volleyball is back in Athens for the Ohio Invitational, while Ohio soccer and field hockey both open MAC play in Athens. Check out everything that's ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints.
FOOTBALL

The Ohio football team (2-1) concludes non conference play this week when they head to Lexington, Ky. on Saturday, Sept. 21 to take on Kentucky (1-2). Kickoff is set for 12:45 p.m. inside Kroger Stadium and can be seen on the SEC Network.
Ohio is coming off a 21-6 win over Morgan State on Saturday, in a game that saw Ohio hold a team to without a touchdown for the first time since 2019.
Anthony Tyus III (Portage, Mich.) picked up his two touchdowns on the day, while graduate student quarterback
Parker Navarro(Tempe, Ariz.) also ran for a touchdown. Graduate student linebacker
Blake Leake (Culpepper, Va.) led the Bobcats in tackles at the end of the night. He had 12 total tackles, including four solo and one for loss, while graduate student wide receiver
Coleman Owen (Gilbert, Ariz.) recorded 112 yards on six receptions, including a 53-yard trip in the first quarter.
Kentucky led No. 1 Georgia for the first three quarters and into the fourth before the top-ranked Bulldogs rallied for a 13-12 win at Kroger Field on Saturday night (Sept. 14).Kentucky got a career-high 98 rushing yards from Demie Sumo-Karngbaye, who carried the ball 22 times, also a career high.The Kentucky defense did its job against Georgia, holding the Bulldogs to 262 yards of total offense. The Cats got big efforts from Zion Childress (six tackles, one tackle for loss, one pass breakup), Ty Bryant (six tackles, one tackle for loss) and D'Eryk Jackson (six tackles).
WOMEN'S GOLF

The Ohio women's golf teams returns to the course early this week at the 2024 Brittany Kelly Classic hosted by Ball State. The two-day event is set for Sept. 16-17 at The Players Club at Woodland Hills in Yorktown, ind.
Competing in this year's event are: IU Indy, Western Illinois, Valpo, UIC, Cleveland State, Ball State, Lindenwood, Western Michigan, Dayton, Green bay, Ohio and Butler.
The Bobcats' line up this week consists of: senior
Sydney Longstreth (Carmel, Ind.), sophomore
Zoe Luebbers (Cincinnati, Ohio), sophomore
Morgan Rodgers (Centerville, Ohio), junior
Mackenzie McRee (Tucson, Ariz.) and freshman Ally Turner (Miamisburg, Ohio).
Ohio last competed Sept. 1-2 at the 2024 A-Ga-Ming Invitational where they finished fifth.

The Ohio volleyball team (3-5) returns to Athens this weekend for the 2024 Ohio Invitational Presented By Athens County Convention & Visitors Bureau Sept. 20-21 in Athens, The first match of the weekend begins at 10:30 a.m. ET on Friday with Liberty (4-5) and Oakland (3-6). At 4:30 p.m., Oakland will take on Eastern Kentucky (6-3), before the Bobcats hit the court for the first time at 6:30 p.m. when they take on Liberty. The match will be seen on ESPN+. All three teams are back in action on Saturday starting at 10:30 a.m. with EKU and Liberty facing off. The Bobcats close out the last two matches of the day starting at 1 p.m. when they take on Oakland, before closing out the weekend at 7 p.m. against EKU.
The Bobcats enter the invite with a 3-5 record after coming back from a West Cost trip that saw the Bobcats battle #23 USC.
Liberty is 405 entering the weekend and is coming off a 1-2 weekend at the Liberty Tournament where they defeated ETSU and fell to West Virginia and Virginia. Oakland is 3-6 entering the weekend after going 1-2 at the Michigan/Oakland Tournament where they defeated Saint Francis and fell to Michigan and Sacramento State. Finally EKU comes to Athens with a 6-3 record and is coming off a 2-1 weekend at the Chippewa Invitational hosted by CMU, where they defeated Central Michigan and SEMO, before falling to Green Bay.

The Ohio soccer team (5-1-1) kicks off Mid-American Conference play this week after finishing the non conference slate, 5-1-1 and currently rides a four-match winning streak. MAC play begins on Thursday, Sept. 19 when Ohio welcomes MAC preseason favorite Western Michigan (3-1-3) to Athens. First touch is set for 4 p.m. ET at Chessa Field and can be seen on ESPN+. Ohio then hits the road to DeKalb, Ill. on Sunday, Sept. 22 to take on Northern Illinois (6-1-1). First touch is set for 2 p.m. ET
Ohio is coming off a 2-0-0 week that saw Ohio defeat Western Kentucky, 2-1, on the road, before coming home to defeat Oakland, 7-0, in Senior Day in Athens on Sunday. In total, Ohio scored nine goals, while allowing one. graduate student
Aubrey Rea (Akron, Ohio and freshman
Sania Dearing (Pickerington, Ohio) both scored two goals, while five other Bobcats also found the back of the net.
WMU enters the matchup with the Bobcats, 3-1-3 overall and are coming off an 0-0-1 week that saw the Broncos battle DePaul to a 1-1 draw on Sunday in Chicago. NIU is 6-1-1 and is on a three-match winning streak after defeating Illinois State on Thursday and Valpo on Sunday.

The Ohio field hockey (3-3) team is back in Athens for two more matches this week as they open MAC play. The Bobcats' weekend begins on Friday, Sept. 20 when they host App State (3-3) in the MAC opener. First touch is set for 12 p.m. ET at Pruitt Field and can be seen on ESPN+. The Bobcats are back on Pruitt on Saturday, Sept. 21 when they host Brown (1-3). First touch is set for 1 p.m ET and can be seen on ESPN+.
Ohio is coming off a 1-1 weekend that saw the Bobcats take down Saint Loius, 5-1, in the Bobcats' home opener on Sunday (Sept. 15). In that game, five different Bobcats scored, while graduate student keeper
Macy Lotze (Louisville, Ky.) only allowed one goal, a penalty stroke, early in the first quarter.
App State enters the match with Ohio also with a 3-3 record and are coming off a 7-2 victory over Davidson on Sunday (Sept. 15). Meanwhile, Brown enters the matchup with the Bobcats with a 1-3 record and are coming off a 2-1 win over Yale on Sunday.

The Ohio men's and women's cross country teams are back in action this weekend for the 2024 Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. The event is hosted by Minnesota at the Les Bolstad Golf Course. The men's race is set to begin at 11 a.m. ET, while the women's race is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. ET.
Ohio last competed Aug. 30 at the Tommy Evans Invitational in Akron. The mens placed third overall in the event, while the women placed seventh. Freshman
Michael Dellasanta led Ohio in the men's 6k race, placing 19
th overall with a time of 18:56.5. Three Bobcats placed in the top 50 of the women's 5k race. Sophomore
Eliza Streit (Plain City, Ohio) led the Ohio women, placing 23
