ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio Men's Golf team was back on the road for the Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate hosted by Elliott Group International Sept. 14-15 at the Oakland University Golf & Learning Center. The Bobcats finished 10th place with an overall score of 911 (+47), while junior
Will Kates (Centennial, Colo.) placed 33rd.
Wright State won the event, followed by Oakland (+6), Butler (+8) and Bowling Green (+22).
As a team, Ohio opened the first round with a 308, and concluded the second round with a 311. Closing out the tournament, the Bobcats shot a 292, their lowest round of the tournament.
Individually, Kates (Guelph, Ontario) led the Bobcats recording rounds of 78 and 75 on day one, before finishing Sunday with a 73 for a total tournament score of 226 (+10) and a five-way tie for 33rd-place finish.
Graduate Student
Jack Neville (Terrace Park, Ohio) and junior
Sam Hogan (Burlington, Canada) were next, both in a tie for 43rd. Neville shot a 77 and 78 on day one and a low-round of 73 on day two for a total of 228 (+12). Hogan finished twelve-over, had scores of 75 and 79 with a low of 74 in the final round for an overall total of 228.
Junior
Nathanial Gray Lamont (Guelph, Ontario) finished 47th overall in a seven-way tie. He opened the tournament with a 78, before shooting the second-round score of 80. He then finished the tournament with a 72, recording a total tournament score of 230 (+14). Junior
Carson Trafford (Dublin, Ohio) placed 69th (83+79+79=241) and finished 25-over.
The Bobcats will be back in action Sept. 28-29 at the Virtues Intercollegiate. The two day event is hosted by Bowling Green at the Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.
