LOS ANGELES – The Ohio volleyball team (3-4, 0-0 MAC) fell 3-1 (25-23, 17-25, 24-26, 27-29) at No. 23 Southern California (6-2, 0-0 BIG) on Friday, Sept. 13.
Sophomore
Kam Hunt (Sylvania, Ohio) led Ohio's offense with 12 kills, 13.0 points in addition to 10 digs. Five other Bobcats tallied five or more kills including junior
Anna Kharchynska (Kyiv, Ukraine) and sophomore
Olivia Gardner (Macomb, Mich.) who had eight each.
Sophomore
Kendall Hickey (Fishers, Ind.) had a team-high 21 digs and freshman
Bryn Janke (Westfield, Wis.) led the team in assists with 16 total.
The entire match was a close competition between the Bobcats and the Trojans. Ohio kicked off the match with an early 1-0 advantage. The Bobcats' 25-23 win in set one was aided by a 4-1 scoring run at the end of the set. Ohio never let up, but narrowly got beaten to two of the other three sets. No. 23 USC won three-straight sets to take the match in a 3-1 decision.
The Bobcats will conclude the weekend with a match versus Utah State in Los Angeles, Calif. on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 4 PM ET.
