LOS ANGELES – The Ohio volleyball team (3-5, 0-0 MAC) fell 3-2 (23-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 14-16) against Utah State (2-6, 0-0 MWC) on Saturday, Sept. 14.
Sophomore
Kam Hunt (Sylvania, Ohio) continued to lead the Bobcats' offense, recording 20 kills and 21.5 points. Junior
Anna Kharchynska (Kyiv, Ukraine) added to the attack with 19 kills and made six blocks, while junior
Chariti McKeller (Toledo, Ohio) contributed a team-high 23 assists.
Defensively, sophomore
Kendall Hickey (Fishers, Ind.) anchored the back row with 24 digs, and sophomore
Emily Waddell (Zionsville, Ind.) tallied seven blocks to slow the Aggies' attack, leading the team.
Ohio fought hard throughout the match, keeping all five sets tightly contested. After Utah State took the first set 25-23, the Bobcats rallied to secure a 25-23 victory in set two, sparked by a 5-0 scoring run. However, Utah State responded, winning sets three and five to claim the match, aided by a 5-0 scoring run to end the contest.
The Bobcats will return home to prepare for the Ohio Invitational presented by Athens County Convention & Visitors Bureau, where they will face Liberty University on Friday, Sept. 20, at 6:30 PM ET.
