
Ohio Football Names Six Captains for 2024 Season

ATHENS, Ohio— The Ohio football team named six captains for the 2024 season— graduate student quarterback Parker Navarro, graduate student wide receiver Coleman Owen, graduate student offensive lineman Parker Titsworth, redshirt junior defensive end Bradley Weaver, junior safety Adonis Williams Jr and graduate student safety Jeremiah Wood. All six athletes are entering their first season as team captains.

Navarro (Tempe, Ariz.) led the Bobcats to their 41-21 victory over Georgia Southern in the 2023 Myrtle Beach Bowl (Dec. 16), throwing for 120 yards while also accumulating 71 rushing yards.Â

Owen (Gilbert, Ariz.) is entering his first season with Ohio. He spent last five seasons with Northern Arizona, appearing in 39 total games. Owen scored 18 touchdowns over his NAU career, including an 85-yard punt return in 2023. He's earned numerous accolades, including 2022 and 2023 Second Team All-Big Sky recognition.Â

Titsworth (Wexford, Pa.) has been a staple in the Bobcats' offensive line since 2021 and has started in every game since 2022. In 2023, the offensive line helped the offense average 24.31 points and 348 yards per game, scoring 37 touchdowns on the season. Off the field, Titsworth earned academic accolades as well when he was named to the College Sports Communicators 2023 Academic All-District® Football Team as well as the 2023 Academic All-MAC Team.

Weaver (Hilliard, Ohio) was a force to be reckoned with in the 2023 season, playing in all 13 games, 12 of which he started in. He totaled 34 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and six sacks. Against Kent State (Oct. 7), he tallied a season-best six tackles.Â

Williams (South Euclid, Ohio) was a staple in Ohio's defensive unit in 2023, starting in 11 of 13 games. In his 12 appearances, Williams tallied 39 tackles— including 20 solo stops— one interception and three pass deflections.Â

Wood (Pickerington, Ohio) has been with the Bobcats since the 2018 season. He appeared in 10 games for Ohio in 2023, starting five times. On the season, he recorded 26 tackles along with 2.5 tackles for loss and an interception against Georgia Southern (Dec. 16).Â

The Bobcats are set to open the 2024 season on Saturday, Aug. 31 when they take on Syracuse. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. ET on ACCN at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, N.Y.
