MAC Announces 2024 Soccer Preseason Poll

CLEVELAND, Ohio
 -- In a vote of the league's 12 head coaches, the Ohio soccer team was selected to finish third in the regular season in the 2024 Mid-American Conference Preseason Poll, the conference announced today (Aug. 13). The Bobcats earned 90 overall points. 

Western Michigan was picked to win both the MAC regular season title and the MAC Tournament. The Broncos compiled 116 points and eight first place votes for the regular season and six votes to win the conference tournament. 

Following Western Michigan is Ball State (101 - 2), Ohio (90), Kent State (88 - 1), Buffalo (86 - 2), Bowling Green (84 - 1), Northern Illinois (60), Toledo (50), Miami (47), Eastern Michigan (29), Akron (23) and Central Michigan (18).

The women's soccer team had a historic season in 2023. Ohio entered the MAC Tournament as the No. 6 seed after posting a 4-7-5 record in the regular season, and it came out of the tournament with its first-ever MAC Championship. Ohio defeated rival Kent State 2-1 to earn the title. The Bobcats return eighteen members of the 2023 team.

Ohio gets the regular season started at Butler on Thursday, Aug. 15 at 7 pm.
