CLEVELAND – Two members of the Ohio baseball team have been selected for the 2024 Mid-American Conference Baseball Postseason Honors. Senior
Gideon Antle (Licking, Mo.) earned All-MAC Second Team honors and freshman
JR Nelson (Vernon Hills, Ill.) was named to the MAC All-Defensive Team.
Gideon Antle was named to the All-MAC Second Team after playing and starting in 48 games this season for Ohio. Antle finished the season with 37 runs, 48 RBI's, 69 hits including 17 doubles, one triple and 10 home runs. He recorded a season .350 batting average, .549 slugging percentage, .398 on base percentage and .976 fielding percentage. Antle kicked off the season by being named the MAC Co-Player of the Week (Feb. 19) after finishing opening weekend 11-for-15 (.733) at the plate with three doubles, two home runs, four runs scored and four RBI's. Following the conclusion of the regular season, the senior ranked fourth in the MAC for doubles, eighth for batting average and 10
th for hits.
JR Nelson was named to the MAC All-Defensive Team after playing and starting in 49 games in his debut season with Ohio. The freshman shortstop tallied 59 putouts, 124 assists and only seven errors. He recorded a season-high four putouts at Virginia Tech (May 4) and six assists at Eastern Michigan (April 14). At the end of the regular season, Nelson ranked sixth in the conference for assists. Offensively, Nelson compiled 35 runs, 13 RBI's, 12 stolen bases, 62 hits including 10 doubles and 13 RBI's. He recorded a .312 batting average, .377 slugging percentage and .381 on base percentage. Nelson also ranked 16
th in the conference for hits
