OXFORD, Ohio – The Ohio baseball team's (14-30, 9-16 MAC) series opener at Miami (25-21, 17-11 MAC) came down to the final inning as the Bobcats fell 4-3 to the Redhawks on Friday, May 10.

Individually, redshirt junior Nick Dolan (Pittsburgh, Pa.) went two-for-four at the plate and recorded one RBI. Fifth year Alex Finney (Oxford, Mich.) also recorded one RBI along with one hit. Freshman Trae Cassidy (Northville, Mich.) and redshirt junior AJ Rausch (Powell, Ohio) each secured one run on one hit.

On the mound, junior Dillon Masters (New Albany, Ohio) pitched 5.1 innings, allowing three runs on five hits, walked five and struck out five. Senior Luke Olson (Granville, Ill.) pitched three innings, only allowing one run on three hits, walked one and struck out one.

Miami was first on the board, scoring one run in the first to take a 1-0 lead. The Bobcats looked to answer in the top of the third, but a double play stopped Ohio from getting their first run. Miami added a run to their tally in the fourth, taking a 2-0 advantage.

The Bobcats answered in the top of the fifth with a two-run inning. With two Bobcats on base, Dolan hit a one-RBI single to left to cut into the lead. Followed by a walk, Finney was up to bat with the bases loaded and flew one out to right field to bring in another run.

Miami added to their total in the sixth, taking a 3-2 advantage. The Bobcats tied the game in the top of the eighth after a hit by pitch with the bases loaded.

The Bobcat defense looked to force extra innings, but Miami hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to win the game 4-3.

The Bobcats will be back in action for game two of their series against Miami Saturday, May 11. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. ET. Tune in to Russ Eisenstein on the Varsity Network App for the radio broadcast starting at 12:45 p.m.
