ATHENS, Ohio – Spring is right around the corner Bobcats! Check out everything that's ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints.

Ohio baseball (8-13, 4-5 MAC) is back in action for four more games this week. The Bobcats open the week at home on Tuesday, March 26 when the Bobcats host Dayton (15-10). First pitch is set for 4 p.m. inside Bob Wren Stadium and can be seen on ESPN+. 

Ohio returns to MAC play starting Thursday, March 28  in Munice, Ind. to start a three-game series with Ball State (13-12, 2-7 MAC). First pitch is set for 3 p.m. inside First Merchants Ballpark Complex. Ohio and Ball State are back on the diamond for game two on Friday, March 29 at 3 p.m., before concluding the three-game series with the final game on Saturday, March 30. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. 

Senior outfielder Gideon Antle helped lead the Ohio baseball team this past week. Overall, Antle hit .444 with eight hits in 18 at bats. He recorded one home run and three doubles, while recording eight RBI, scored six runs and had 14 total bases. He recorded a .778 slugging percentage and drew one walk and had a .500 on base percentage. In the outfield, Antle had nine putouts and a 1.000 fielding percentage. On Saturday against CMU, Antle went 5-for-5 with three doubles and five RBI in the Bobcats 18-3 victory.

Ohio softball (13-17,1-5 MAC) is back in action this weekend for the Bobcats' MAC home opener when Central Michigan (5-18, 2-1 MAC) comes to town. The Bobcats open the weekend on Friday, March 29, first pitch is set for 3 p.m. at the Ohio Softball Field. The two teams are back in action for the final two games of the series on Saturday, March 30 when the Bobcats and CMU face off in a doubleheader that starts at 1 p.m. All three games can be seen on ESPN+. 

This weekend will also kickoff the season-long celebration of the 50th season of Ohio Softball. This weekend, the Bobcats will honor the 90's.

The Ohio track and field team is back in action for their second weekend of the outdoor season. This week the Bobcats will head to two meets to showcase their talents. Members of the Bobcats will head to Raleigh, N.C. for the 2024 Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State. The three-day event will take place March 28-30 at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility, with field events each day beginning around 9:30 a.m., with track events beginning around 12:30 p.m. Other members of the team will head to Cincinnati, Ohio for the 2024Oliver Nikoloff Invitational March 29-30. The two-day event will take place at Gettlet Stadium, with field events beginning around 10 a.m. each day and track events starting at about 12 p.m. 

The Bobcats are coming off a season-opening trip to the Blizzard Buster in Oxford, Ohio on March 22. Graduate student Kassidy Ketzing placed second with a mark of 33.61 meters (110-3) and freshman Saydee Resnik placed third with a mark of 32.66 meters (107-2). Senior Jordan Baith recorded a second-place mark of 44.12 meters (144-9) in the discus. Baith also competed in the hammer throw and finished in 11th place (42.22m/138-6). In the long jump, freshman Jordyn Baxter earned fifth place with a mark of 5.01 meters (16-5.25).Sophomores Rhiea Gordon  and Maggie Stewart competed in the 100m and 200m races. Gordon finished sixth in the 100m (12.77) and 200m (26.60). Stewart took home seventh in the 100m (12.83) and fifth in the 200m (26.49)
