
Women's Track & Field Concludes Competition at Blizzard Buster

OXFORD, Ohio – The Ohio women's track and field concluded its outdoor season opener at Miami's Blizzard Buster, where a large pool of athletes recorded several impressive performances, on Saturday in Oxford, Ohio.
Ohio kicked off the meet with several field events. In the javelin, graduate student Kassidy Ketzing (Pomeroy, Ohio) placed second with a mark of 33.61 meters (110-3) and freshman Saydee Resnik (Greensburg, Pa.) placed third with a mark of 32.66 meters (107-2). Senior Jordan Baith (Seville, Ohio) recorded a second-place mark of 44.12 meters (144-9) in the discus. Baith also competed in the hammer throw and finished in 11th place (42.22m/138-6). In the long jump, freshman Jordyn Baxter (Atlanta, Ga.) earned fifth place with a mark of 5.01 meters (16-5.25).
Sophomores Rhiea Gordon (Youngstown, Ohio) and Maggie Stewart (Worthington, Ohio) competed in the 100m and 200m races. Gordon finished sixth in the 100m (12.77) and 200m (26.60). Stewart took home seventh in the 100m (12.83) and fifth in the 200m (26.49). Freshman Jada Irwin (Hamilton, Ohio) also raced in the 200m (27.02), finishing 10th, in addition to placing fifth in the 400m (1:01.21). Freshman Gracie Smith (Grove City, Ohio) also competed in the sprints/hurdle events, taking home second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.97.
Several Bobcats competed for Ohio in the mid-distance and distance events. Graduate student Carina Weaver (Lexington, Ohio) started the day for Ohio with a ninth place and personal-best time of 4:44.50 in the 1500m.
Senior Kenna Loveless (Tallmadge, Ohio; 2:27.50) and freshman Abby Wells (Hilliard, Ohio; 2:28.40) raced in the 800m, finishing in seventh and 10th place.
In the 3000m, sophomore Morgan Roth (Brunswick, Ohio) led the Bobcats with an eighth-place time of 10:23.70. Junior Sarah Liederbach (Petoskey, Mich.) came in 11th place with a time of 10:30.73 and freshman Eliza Streit (Plain City, Ohio) finished in 14th place with a time of 10:35.74.
The Bobcats will be back in action at the Raleigh Relays on Thursday, March 28 and Oliver Nikoloff Invitational on Friday, March 29.
