MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Ohio wrestling team (5-5, 1-3 MAC) lost this afternoon (Feb. 4) to Central Michigan (5-6, 3-1 MAC) by a score of 28-9.
The Chippewas and Bobcats entered the meet as the second and third ranked teams in the MAC based off of the conference's January rankings. Central Michigan had the upper hand on the day, winning seven of the ten matches in the meet.
Redshirt sophomore Peyten Kellar (Cutler, Ohio) stayed perfect on the year in dual-meets. He defeated No. 21 Johnny Lovett by way of a 6-0 decision. Kellar is now 15-2 on the year and 8-0 in dual-meets.
Following behind Kellar, redshirt sophomore Garrett Thompson (Murrysville, Pa.) picked up the second win of the day for the Bobcats. Thompson battled with CMU's Tyler Swiderski en route to a 1-0 decision victory. The win gave Thompson his team-leading 23rd win of the season.
Junior Zayne Lehman (Akron, Ohio) picked up the final win of the night for the Bobcats. The 184-pounder Adrien Cromer with a 5-2 decision. With the win, Lehman improved to 15-8 overall and 7-1 in meets.
