ATHENS, Ohio – It's a huge week in Athens this week! The Bobcats host the MAC Swim and Dive Championships, while men's and women's basketball wrap the home slate and celebrate our seniors. The Ohio swim and dive team are scheduled to host the 2024 Mid-American Conference Women's Swim and Dive Championships, Feb. 29-March 2 at the Ohio university Aquatic Center. The four-day event will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 28 with prelims set to start at 11 a.m., while finals will begin at 6 p.m. The teams are back in the pool on Thursday, Feb. 29 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and again on Friday, March 1. The championships wraps up on Saturday, March 2 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., with a champion decided at the end of Saturday night's finals. All four days, both prelims and finals, will be streamed on GetSomeMACtion.com.
The eight teams competing in the event are Ohio, Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Miami and Toledo.
Tickets are available through OhioBobcats.com, with each session priced at $15, or an All Session pass for $40.
Ohio last competed as.a full team on Saturday, Jan. 27, with Ohio defeating Ball State, 219-81 on Senior Day in Athens. The Bobcats concluded the regular season with a 7-0 dual meet mark. Last season, Ohio concluded MACs with a fourth-place finish, tallying 529.5 points.

The Ohio men's basketball team (15-12, 9-5 MAC) return to Athens for its final two home games of the regular season this week, with both games holding big implications in MAC Tournament seeding. The week begins on Tuesday, Feb. 27 when the Bobcats host MAC-leading Akron (20-7, 12-2 MAC). Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN+. The Bobcats wrap up the home slate on Friday, March 1 when Bowling Green (17-10, 8-6 MAC) comes to town. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. inside the Convo and can be seen on CBS Sports Network.
Friday will serve as Senior Day for the Bobcats, with
Miles Brown and
Jaylin Hunter being honored prior to the night's matchup.
Ohio is coming off a 2-0 week that saw the Bobcats defeat Kent State in Athens, before clinching a spot to Cleveland on Saturday after defeating Northern Illinois on the road. Ohio currently sits in fourth place in the MAC standings, one game behind CMU and one game up on BGSU.

The Ohio women's basketball team (8-17, 5-9 MAC) also wrap up the 2023-24 home slate this week with two major matchups as the Bobcats continue to pursue a spot in this year's MAC Tournament. The week begins on Wednesday, Feb. 28 when Ohio welcomes Western Michigan (12-13, 7-7 MAC ) to town. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN+. Ohio concludes the week on Saturday, March 2 against Central Michigan (5-19, 3-11 MAC). Gametime is set for 1 p.m. inside the Convocation Center and it can once again be seen on ESPN+.

The Ohio baseball team (2-4) return to Athens March 1-3 for their home opening series against UIC (3-3). The weekend begins on Friday, March 1 at 3 p.m. at Bob Wren Stadium. The two teams are back in action on Saturday, March 2 at 2 p.m., before closing out the three-game series on Sunday, March 3 at 1 p.m. All three games will be streamed on YouTube and admission will be free.
Last week, senior
Gideon Antle was named the MAC Baseball Co-Player of the Week. For the week, Antle went 11-for-15 (.733) with three doubles, two home runs, four runs scored and four RBI.

The Ohio softball team (10-5) are back in action for four more games next week when they head to Clarsville, Tenn. for the 2024 Governors Classic hosted by Austin Peay. The Bobcats open the weekend on Friday, March 1 against IUPUI (1-12) at 4:30 p.m. EST inside Cathi Maynard Park. Ohio returns to the diamond on Saturday, March 2 for two games starting at 11 a.m. EST against Indiana State (7-6), before closing out the day at 1:30 p.m. EST against St. Louis (5-4). The weekend concludes on Sunday, March 3 at 11 a.m. EST against Indiana State once again.
The Bobcats are coming off a successful weekend at the 2024 Frost Classic in Chattanoog, Tenn., with Ohio going 4-1 with wins over UT Martin, Chattanooga, Valpo and Georgetown.
