BOCA RATON, Fla. — The Ohio softball team (1-3) returned to action Saturday (Feb. 10) at the FAU Paradise Classic playing a double-header against Penn State and Florida Atlantic. The Bobcats struggled to find their stride this afternoon, dropping both games 8-0.

GAME ONE: Penn State 8 - Ohio 0 (5 Innings)

The Bobcats returned to action Saturday afternoon facing their second Big Ten opponent of the weekend. Ohio fell behind Penn State early and were unable to respond. The Nittany Lions won in five innings, 8-0.

Individually, freshman Mikie Lieving (New Haven, W. Va.) made her first collegiate start, recording two strikeouts. Four Bobcats recorded a base-hit on the day, including freshman Izzie Wilson (Delaware, Ohio) who picked up the second extra-base hit of her collegiate career.

After a scoreless first inning, the Nittany Lions jumped ahead in the second. They would add four more in the third inning behind a three-run home run over the center field fence to make it 6-0. Ohio was unable to build any momentum in response and Penn State scored twice in the fifth to close out the game.

GAME TWO: Florida Atlantic 8 - Ohio 0 (5 Innings)

The Bobcats entered their second game of the day looking to bounce back from their earlier defeat. However, taking on the hosts, Florida Atlantic, Ohio was unable to string together hits, ultimately falling 8-0 in five innings.

Redshirt sophomore Skipp Miller (Bradford, Ohio) made her second start of the season, pitching _ innings while recording five strikeouts. At the plate, senior Annalia Paoli (Point Marion, Pa.) had the lone extra-base hit for the Bobcats with a double.

The Bobcats and Owls were in a tight battle for the early innings with FAU taking a two run advantage into the fourth inning. The Owls kept Ohio scoreless before putting up six in the bottom half of the frame to make the score 8-0. FAU was able to hold off the Bobcats in the top of the fifth to wrap up the game in the fifth inning.
