Hoerlein, Gardner Named to the 2024 CSC Academic All-District Volleyball Team

ATHENS, Ohio – Two members of the Ohio volleyball team, graduate student Elizabeth Hoerlein (Mason, Ohio) and sophomore Olivia Gardner (Macomb, Mich.) have been selected to the 2024 Academic All-District Volleyball Team, selected by the College Sports Communicators. The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

Graduate student and middle blocker Elizabeth Hoerlein earned her bachelor's degree in Marketing and Business Analytics, finishing with a 3.588 GPA. Hoerlein has chosen to continue her education at Ohio and is working towards earning her master's degree. During the 2024 season, she appeared in 29 matches, made 28 starts and played in 113 sets. Hoerlein tallied 176 kills, 229.5 points and recorded a .331 hitting percentage. Hoerlein also finished with 76.0 total blocks, including 57 block assists and 19 solo blocks. The graduate student ranked second on the team for blocks, fourth for kills and points.

Sophomore and middle blocker Olivia Gardner currently has a 3.898 GPA and is working towards a bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology. During the 2024 season, Gardner appeared in 29 matches, made 24 starts and played in 111 sets. She tallied 199 kills, 234.0 points, averaged 2.11 points per set and 1.79 kills per set. Defensively, Gardner finished with 58.0 total blocks, including 48 block assists and 10 solo blocks. The sophomore ranked third on the team for kills, points and total blocks.
