
Ohio Volleyball Falls in Five-Set Battle at Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Ohio volleyball team (14-15, 10-8 MAC) fell 3-2 (23-25, 14-25, 25-22, 25-16, 9-15) in its regular season finale at Bowling Green (21-8, 16-2 MAC) on Saturday, Nov. 16.

Junior Anna Kharchynska (Kyiv, Ukraine) led the team with 19 kills and 21.5 points. Sophomore Olivia Gardner (Macomb, Mich.) tallied a career-high 13 kills in addition to 15.5 points. Sophomore Kam Hunt (Sylvania, Ohio) finished with nine kills and 11.0 points.

Freshman Bryn Janke (Westfield, Wis.) was Ohio's top setter of the night, tallying a team-high 34 assists.

Freshman Darbi Ricketts (Cincinnati, Ohio) and sophomore Kendall Hickey (Fishers, Ind.) recorded a combined 24 digs. Gardner led the team in blocks with five total.

Bowling Green came out strong, winning the first two sets 25-23 and 25-14.

However, the momentum of the match slightly changed in the third set. Ohio cut Bowling Green's lead to 2-1 with a 25-22 win in the third set. That victory in the third set fuel the Bobcats as they went on to tie the match at 2-2 with a 25-16 win in the fourth.

Unfortunately, the Bobcats were unable to catch up with the Falcons in the fifth set. Bowling Green went on to win the final set, 15-9 and the match, 3-2.
