PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas. – The Ohio Men's Golf team competed in the White Sands Invitational Oct. 25-27, and finished in 11th place with an overall score of 872 (+8). The three day event was hosted by West Virginia at The Ocean Golf Club in Paradise Island, Bahamas. Senior
Sam Hogan (Burlington, Canada) was the low Bobcat, finishing tied for 22nd.
As a team, Ohio opened the first round with a score of 292 and concluded the second round with a 285. Closing out the tournament, the Bobcats shot a 295, four strokes off fourth-ranked, Emory.
No. 40 Charleston won the event, followed by no. 49 Houston (-40), Ball State (-26), and Maryland (-22).
Individually, Hogan led the Bobcats, recording rounds of 70 and 71 in the first two rounds, before finishing Sunday with a 72 for a total tournament score of 213 (-3), securing a tie for 22nd place.
Senior
Matt Daulton (Lebanon, Ohio) was next for Ohio, finishing tied for 43rd. Daulton shot scores of 72 and 72 in the first two rounds, and a 75 on the final day for a total score of 219 (+3). Junior
Will Kates (Centennial, Ohio) followed close behind Daulton, finishing tied for 48th, with a score of 220 (74+70+76), ending the tournament four over par.
Next, junior Nathaniel Gray Lamont finished the tournament tied for 52nd, for a total score of 223. Gray Lamont shot scores of 76 and 72 during the first two days of the tournament, finishing with a score of 75, to be seven over par. Meanwhile, junior
Carson Trafford (Dublin, Ohio) finished 68th overall, opening the tournament with an 81, before concluding the second round with a 76, and the final day with a 73, finishing the tournament with a score of 230 (+14).
Competing as an individual for the Bobcats, graduate student
Brice Delaney (Pittsburgh, Pa.) finished in 72nd place. Delaney began the tournament with an 77 in round one, followed by an 84 and an 80 in the final two rounds, totaling 241 (+25).
The Bobcats will be back in action Feb. 16-18 at the CasaBlanca Collegiate. The three-day event is hosted by Easten Kentucky at the CasaBlanca Golf Course in Mesquite, Nev.
